as for your husbands condition, it would be far better to discuss the ongoing swollen knee and ankle and to ask if the potassium would help reduce the condition or would other procedures such as icing the knee when it is hot help reduce the swelling
I mention this because following a knee replacement, there is a lot of swelling in the knee and the specialist demanded an ice pack be used to reduce the heat ( the area around the knee gets hot during the healing process) and reduce the swelling
The handle set or retention screw has loosen up and needs tightened. Remove the handle and rotate the stem to the off possession and reinstall the handle in the correct alignment.
By retention plate do you mean the handle that locks the CPU in place.? if that is the problem there you can not replace it HOWEVER you can still use the motherboard.
note that the CPU socket is a two section structure on top of each other. after inserting the processor you can slide the two section together to hold the CPU. you have to glue the two section together to make it stay in place. the draw back is that you probably will not be able to upgrade the CPU in future because of the glue.

If the CPU retention unit or heat sink wasn't
installed correctly, the bad heat dissipation will cause P4 CPU over
temperature and fail to boot up.
Please check the black CPU retention is fully inserted into
the holes in the mainboard. Below picture illustrates a bad
installation- there is a gap between retention unit and mainboard.
Please make sure the white nails were fully inserted and can prevent CPU retention unit from loosen.
Double check the back side of mainboard. If the feet of CPU retention unit and white nails were correctly installed?
