Question about Canon Rebel XT / EOS 350D Digital Camera

Canon rebel xt EOS

When I try and turn on the camera, NOTHING, NOTTA...I bought this camera used, and it worked the first day. I took the battery to my local camera store and they said the battery was fine, but had no idea what could be wrong with it. It seems like the camera is not giving any response to having the battery in it.

I have the same problem, and in my case it did happen after putting in a new memory card. Can I fix this?

Unfortunately it happens on the eos cameras now and again,
see this article, it relates to the 300d but there all fairly similar and the fault occurs on all the eos range..

Take a strong light and look into the slot where the CF card is placed. See if any of the pins are bent or touching each other. If the camera senses a fault in memory card communication, it may not power up.

Also check the battery contacts in the camera. If you can see any corrosion/discoloration of the contacts, try and clean them up with a pencil eraser.

Otherwise, it looks like you have done what is possible without taking the camera apart. Check into getting it serviced.

Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT will not turn on.

It could be a number of things. The first thing you shouild do is remove the back cover and check for loose screws. If you don't find any, the problem may be a damaged battery door switch, a damaged memory card slot door switch, or worse- it may be a defective power board.

My Canon EOS Rebel XT will not turn on anymore.

You say the battery is charge, but can you confirm this. Of course, one way to do this would be to plug it into another device (preferably another CANON XT) but this may not be a viable option. Another thing you could do to confirm that the battery is charged or is not bad is to take the battery to a store that sells the camera and ask the sales person if he/she could be so kind as to test your battery with a Canon camera. I imagine you could try either a place like Best Buy, Ritz Camera, or any other place. If you can do this and find that your battery works on other cameras, then you know you've got a real problem with your camera. On the other hand, if your battery also does not work on another camera, I would say go order yourself a cheaply priced, generic battery from Ebay.

Good luck!

Camera stopped taking pictures

Same thing happened to me a while ago. I was in a panic. I turned it on and off several times...no change. Finally, I turned the camera to the off position, took the battery out of the camera for about 30 seconds and put it back in again and it worked fine. No problem since.

Instead of taking battery out, open and close battery department to reset camera.

Sounds like you have a major fault, you should raise this with Canon and prob send for repair

Err 99 on canon rebel xt 350 d

The Err 99 problem occurs due to dirty contacts between the body and the lens. I recommend cleaning the contacts. You can then turn Off the camera and then remove and reinstall the batteries to reset the camera to get the problem fixed.
