Question about Akai LCT3285TA 32 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

I have lost the red color in my AKAI 32" tv, model LCT3285TA. Is this adjustable, or am I off to the repair shop? All other color and functions on the tv work normally. Lots of green yellow blue and black, but no colors that use any red. Sharpness is the same as always. I am good with a wrench and voltmeter.

Hi, well yes you are off to the repair shop, most likely you have lost your Red "Drive" or indeed a "Gun" may have faulted or the driving circuit, or the PSU. I have seen this many times in my shop, but issues like this simply must be troubleshot to identify the exact cause as many symptoms appear the same but have differing faults and causes..
Below is a link for your user manual. http://www.retrevo.com/support/Akai-LCT3285TA-TVs-manual/id/741bh147/t/2/
now to get the best deal with a repair, and is my professional recommendation, what you should do is get a "Quote" for repair, from, an, Approved Service Center, this point is very important for a good result, Always contact, their local, "Head Office" Akai, in your case. Now, when you get the information you want, from them, Akai, and you get the "Quote" well, then you can decide as to repair of replacement. The reason we want an approved agent, is that way, all the engineers are trained on their own brand sets, they have seen almost all faults, and will get the job done quicker, and for less cost, and usually have original parts on hand, also sometimes, there has been a service bulletin in issued and sometimes, rarely, the repair may be subsided or even free.

Akai LCD tv model LCT3285TA will not respond to remote. Green and red lights at sensor are out

Hello,

The most common cause of this type of power issue is a failure of the filter capacitors on the power supply board. Below is a picture of the board with the faulty capacitors circled, there are 2 more under one of the big black heat sinks. The board can be repaired by replacing the bad capacitors. Below the picture is a link to a kit of the correct parts for the board repair if you want to do the job yourself.

Universal TV remote control

Target sells a GE Universal Remote Control, 5 Device with learning feature. I can't say if it works with your Verizon DVR, but its code for the Akai LCT3285TA is 1139. If you have the Verizon's remote, you should be able to use the learning function to make the GE control it - that's if the GE doesn't have a built in code that will work for this DVR.
