Try doing a system restore in safe mode. If that doesn't work and you're desparate try Last Known Good Config.

Can't get out of safe. the moment I try I get no picture. Have to go back to safe mode to get to computer. How can I stop safe mode and get back into computer without safe mode

If the computer boots normally, but has no visible picture, but then does have one (a picture, that is) in safe mode, chances are that what has happened is that the resolution or refresh rate of the normal mode exceeds the capability of the monitor, seluting in no picture. In safe mode, the resolution is set at a lower rate. Once in safe mode, check the display settings of the monitor and ensure that they are within specifications for it, then try again.

What does starting in safe mode acconplish?

Booting in safe mode simply launches the operating system with minimal services enabled, usually no network availability, and a limited ability of usage, safe mode is used when diagnosing possible threats or for emergncy data access. In the event that the computer has stopped you from gaining access to it. A computer should never forcefully start in safe mode, it is an option usually selected on a black and white screen, start normally or start in safe mode, or start in safe mode with network. Hope this explains is a little better

My notebook will not powerup

Try tapping F8 from a cold start and see if you can start windows in safe-mode. If it is a Windows machine. Please advise if your machine does not use Windows or what happens, as to whether the system starts in safe-mode.

Here is a guide on how to start a Windows computer in safe-mode:

My computer is saying there is a virus and it is stopping me from recovery or booting from a CD..i has had this problem before ..it is windows & and can you help me

Hello, Why not try booting into safe mode, then scan your system with a very good anti-virus to remove the virus, then if you still want to format,go ahead. How do you enter safe mode, you have to switch off your system and switch it on, immediately you switch it on, start pressing the F8 key, you will see different mode you can start your computer with. Choose safe mode and press enter. in the safe mode scan your hard disk thoroughly with anti-virus. Regards

I have a LG E300 notebook and once i switch it on it responds for a while and then freezes, then changes to blue screen saying: Problem occured so windown has shut down to prevent damage: After few hours...

Hi,
It can be caused due to any driver clash or antivirus . With some computers if you press and hold a key as the computer is booting you will get a stuck key message as the computer is booting. If this occurs instead of pressing and holding the "F8 key" tap the "F8 key" continuously until you get the startup menu.
Windows Advanced Options Menu
Please select an option:
Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
Debugging Mode
Start Windows Normally
Reboot
Return to OS Choices Menu
Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice.
As can be seen from the above example, you should be able to highlight and press enter to load the last known good configuration. Once completed the computer should restart and attempt to load into Windows.

Gateway desktop 700xl computer stops at the logo screen and stops

I presume that your logo screen reads 'windows xp'. If so, there might be a problem with one of your startup drivers. Try to boot the computer in safe mode and uninstall any recently installed hardware or software and try to boot it up. It may be a virus also. So update your antivirus and run a complete scan. To boot in safe mode, hold F8 key when you're switching on your computer. you should see a screen which would give you the boot up options. Select "Safe mode with networking". This option lets you browse the internet from safe mode in case you need to.

Start up

try starting the computer normally, this usually happens if you computers power was cut while booting up, its just a small harmless glitch.  As for the returning back to the prompt try running it with command prompt. when you get to the command prompt, type (chkdsk) and let it run this might also fix any other problems that you are not seeing.
