Check the speaker/s first. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. I have recently aquired bose 520b acoutimass panray base module. can this be connected and work with my 2 pairs of bose 901's.i use pioneer SPEC 1 & SPEC 4{ power amp/pre amp}

Don't you mean "502B"?

Specs:
http://pro.bose.com/pdf/pro/brochures/panaray_502_b/b_panaray_502.pdf

http://pro.bose.com/ProController?url=/pro/products/panaray/panaray502b.jsp

http://pro.bose.com/pdf/pro/manuals/panaray_502_b/ig_panaray_502b.pdf

Why do they call the SPEC-1 a PREamp when it seems to be an INTEGRATED AMP with speaker outputs and all?

http://sportsbil.com/stereo/spec/

I'm going to assume one of the numbered, presumably volume-controlled outputs (1,2) goes to the 901 Active Equalizer and on to the SPEC-4.

The OTHER numbered output could feed the missing Panaray Digital Controller and then, presumably, another amp but like many a 901 owner I've heard of, you COULD skip that part for the 502b and hook them to the unmodifed amps available in the SPEC-1 and see how it works out.

My jvc is not working at max volume,on the screen appears OVERLOAD,the sound stops and i have to turn it 0FF and turn it ON again. Model RX-5020 VBK ,is an older model but i dont know what year.

If you're needing to run it at max volume something else is afoot.

ANY amplifier has specs. Those specs are at a certain output into a certain load yielding a certain amount of distortion. That is not to say it can't push more power. But you can be sure the distortion figure will rise almost vertically as the power spec is exceeded. Eventually the signal will clip and now we're talking about danger to the amp and the speakers. Protection Circuits are designed to detect and intervene in these cases.

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as a possible root cause for intermittent shutdown.

Hi i have a older jvc stereo and i have klh audio system model 9706 satellite and i do not know how to do the wiring i can get three spks workig but thats it can u help me do the wireing my jvc has 4 spk...

You can use 4 speakers. Connect 2 speakers to the A system of the JVC and the other 2 to the B system. Then select in JVC the A+B speakers position. As your receiver is stereo, this is the way you could best distribute the sound. However, if you have only 3 speakers, it would be dangerous to try wiring the third one without changing the whole impedance. So you may use 2 speakers.

Hi r_drain

great choice of speaker, always liked MS gear. They are designed to be biamped, or rather have a separate amplifier for bass and treble frequencies. You can just jumper between the terminals. They originally cam with a plate that connect the 2 black and red terminals together making effectively one black and one red. The speaker still has a crossover in line internally.
