I have a top load Kenmore Gold Catalyst Cleaning Action washer that is stuck on permanent press mode. The digital display reads 8 min. and will not turn off or clear. When it is turned on the, the timer goes to 37 minutes and beeps repeatedly through all cycles. It will not clear even when I unplug it. How do I fix this annoying thing!!? Thoughts please.
I'm not sure if you've solved this already but our Kenmore Elite washer had a similar problem that got worse. It ended up being the whole touch panel had to be replaced. I was able to diagnose and replaced it myself with help from the Tech sheet that is underneath the touch panel. Our Kenmore Elite dryer also had to have this paenl replaced several years ago when it was fairly new. Hope this helps.
This symptom indicates a stuck key on the user interface control board. Replacing this control board would most likely fix this type of problem. The part number for the user interface for this model is 8564374.
You can order this part from SearsPartsDirect.com, RepairClinic.com, PartSelect.com etc.
The procedure for replacing this control board is shown in the images below.
Before buying any parts I suggest you access the interface ribbon and disconnect it and then connect it back and see if there is any improvement.
You might also remove the interface from the console and check the console for any stuck buttons.
The F02 error code indicates keypad/user interface failure. Most of the time, this is caused by a problem in the keypad/user interface. It can sometimes be caused by a failed control board. You could have an intermittent problem such as a stuck key or contact. As long as the F02 is not displayed, the washer should work normally. You can continue to use it when the F02 is not displayed. It is still safe to use the washer. Sometimes this problem is caused by a loose wiring harness connection between the keypad/user interface control board and the machine control board. The F2 error code on this washer indicates a stuck button on the user interface control board. The procedure for accessing the control boards on this washer is shown in the image below. I recommend unplugging the washerand checking the wire harness connection from the user interface control board to the machine control board. Try unplugging the connections and then plugging them back in a few times. Make sure that they are plugged in correctly and then reassemble and test the washer. If the F2 is still displayed, then the user interface control board will need to be replaced. On Kenmore F51 means Motor RPS Failure, the motor is not spinning or the motor sensor detects a fault.First unplug the power cord for one hour or so to check if it is a jammed sensor, and see if reset.
