If it has a built in wireless receiver it should be FN and F8 together. Your laptop could have a manual switch which is probably very small and not immediately visible. Have a look around the sides of the case or consult your manual. If you don't have the manual there may be a version of it installed on your HD.

It would be easier if you stated which brand/model you have!

on page 4-29 (or 106 of the pdf) is where it talks about wireless. However on page 2-9 it talks about an orange glow to know your function is turned on. review the above manual and store for the future as I don't know who provides it.

How to switch on wireless

On your Laptop, there's no dedicated key/button for wireless as other Toshiba Satellite. There's a hotkey function. Press Fn+F8 (simultaneously) to activate the wireless and press the same keys to deactivate.

When you look at the F8 key, you'll see the wireless symbol (something like tower).

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

The wireless connection is switched on, but the computer isn't showing any available networks at all, not even secured networks. I usually connect to the home wireless broadband but it's not even bringing...

You need to check first if the wireless switch is turn on.If it is on, check the function key for the wireless. Some computers have function key. Sometimes it is combination of fn and f5. Press those keys at the same time and you should see a pop up window and check if the current status is on. If it is on, uninstall/reinstall the wireless driver in device manager. and restart your computer. If this didn't work. You need to do re installation of your operating system.

No external wireless switch - how do I turn on wireless function on a fujitsu siemens laptop ?

I don't know that particular model, but in most laptops without a switch, there is a key on the keyboard that has a wireless little logo. The key usually works by pressing it simultaneously with the "f'n' (function) key. The wireless key is usually located at the first row of keys (the function keys, F1, F2 and so on). Hope that helps

Where is the switch or function key combination to turn on wireless connection?

It's difficult to tell, but there seems to be a small switch on the front, that may activate the wireless connection. If that isn't it, you can usually access the modems through control panel, under 'network and internet,' and the wireless assistant, or possibly the network and sharing center; if the wireless modem is disabled, right clicking on the icon will usually give you an option to activate it, or you can connect to a network through the network and sharing center, as well as detecting networks, and that will tell you whether or not the thing is working.
