Question about Jenn-Air JCD2389G Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Jenn Air side by side

I wasn't intending to template a solution. It wasn't answered at the time and just passed along information I had picked up. As I stated in the post, someone would be along to help out. And, you did come along. Had you been in a Live Chat session with this person? I've noticed this as a weakness in the programming here and this has happened to me if the Chat goes on long enough. If you were in a Live Chat or Premium Question I think we can both contact Staff to point out this falicy and hopefully get it resolved eventually.

Sorry, if you were offended. I don't consider myself an expert on refrigerators, however, after being around for 57 years and having a mr fixit for a Dad, I've tackled my problems with refrigerators by using a simple enough theory. I gave the user a hint of where to begin if what I stated for a scenario was true. Its impossible to pay attention to what's going on on this site without gleaning new knowledge from time to time.

Again, sorry to have offended your sensibilities. Please accept my apologies.

Hi worldvet,

Actually, I was the one who apologized "...sorry worldvet, was templating again...." referring to my templated opening "...Hi, With the indulgence of XX..."

The XX should have been worldvet, it has been a habit (template) of mine to ask the indulgence of any expert who has posted ahead of me if I will be posting in the same problem. This is to acknowledge that someone was there first and I would be offering likewise a solution.

And yes she was or should I say still is on Chat. She has not closed it since I asked her to do a reset/unplug for a couple of hours.

As you can see, the window has been on for more than 12 hours. It is both an experiment (see if Chat auto closes for inactivity) and in case the user comes back.

On the other hand, perhaps not, since she posted a rejoiner/comment here and likewise an "Ask Me" post here.

Nonetheless, I thank you for the consideration and of course no offense was take.

It is me who was asking that you be not offended........

I just did a service call on a Jenn air side by side that had similar symptoms, It was about 9 years old. after checking to see if the evaporator coil was iced(defrost problem) and it wasn't . I had to conclude that the compressor was losing capacity(reed valves leaking). The unit I was working on had an embraco compressor made in Brazil. You could have it checked by a tech to be sure. I assume the unit is running most of the time if its cycling off then you mat just have a thermostat malfunctioning

I have a jenn air side by side and water seems to be leaking near the front left corner area at random times and when it does leak it is a slow drip.... thoughts?

Look in the freezer floor to see if you have ice built up and over flowing into the floor. If so you have a clogged drain line which is located in the freezer behind the lower basket in the litttle gap at the bottom of the back wall. If you don't have that, the water line that runs to the water in the door is located at the front left side as well and you can get to that by pulling off the bottom piece of plastic that runs along the bottom of the whole machine.

I have a Jenn-Aire side-by-side refrigerator Model #JCB2280HES, Serial #10024253EP. The warranty expired in February 2010. The food in the bottom half of both the freezer and refrigerator is frozen and...

Check to see if the evaporator fan behind the freezer wall (remove wall) is running. If it isnt the air will not flow properly in the unit. Replace the fan motor and it will fix it.

Good Luck!!

Our refrig is not cooling and now the freezer

It could be two things. it is either the defrost heater or the time. (some models have adaptive timer. but before you guess here is how to check (be very careful) you need to get to the defrost heater and apply 120v directly to the heater. if the heater go on then the timer is bad. if the heater dont work then it is the heaters. in either case you must change the bi-metal t'stat along with the timer or the defrost heater.

Jenn Air Ice Maker Ejector Fingers Freeze Up

Hello, Yes you may be on the right track. Some manufactures like Jenn-Air, Viking, Sub-Zero, etc. require a higher inlet water pressure across the inlet solenoid valve to close the diaphragm after the ice machine stops calling for water. There are multiple solutions. But first, check the water pressure to your home to make sure you have 65-70 psi of pressure entering the home. Here is a link to our web site for a reasonably priced solution to increase the discharge working pressure from your RO System storage tank to the Jenn Air: This is a modification that can be done to your system. It is a Patented Piston Actuated Permeate Pump that relieves the Permeate or Pure Water "BACK"-Pressure when the pure water enters the storage tank so the tank can store more water and build more working pressure. You could also increase the size of the storage tank, increase the size and daily production of the Membrane Filter to recover the tank water quicker, or add additional storage tanks for more volume of storage. Another method would be to use an "Atmospheric Storage Tank" with the RO System, and a Pressure Delivery Booster Pump to **** the water out of the storage tank and Pump it to the required location under higher pressure and flow when compared to the Conventional Pressurized Bladder Tank that you own now. The drill down path to our site for this information would be:, Purification, Reverse Osmosis, Residential, Pump Assisted Reverse Osmosis, EPS-3TPP, or other systems on that page. Hope this helped.
