You need to re install the sound card driver and it really helps if you know the type of sound card in your computer windows xp isnt really good at detecting the correct driver and downloading it. however you can only try click on start then control panal then system then device manager there will be a yellow ? next to your audio device double click on it and then click reinstall driver windows should ask if you want to serch the net for this driver click yes and there you go. if that fails email me the make and model of your computer and ill email you a link to detect the driver its a lot harder but it works

best of luck

The sound on my toshiba satellite c655 s5068 laptop does not work after sleeping.

You may try this; Turn OFF the laptop, remove the power sources (ac adapter and battery). Without power sources, hold power button 10 secs. Put back the power sources, and power ON the NB. If same thing happened, uninstall and reinstall the audio driver. Go to start/type device manager in search box/click sound video and game controller/uninstall the audio driver and restart the laptop to take effect. Once the laptop booted up wait for the message that the device driver is successfully installed or check if the audio driver is back in the device manager. Then test the sound.

.pgI lost my sound from

Hello,

Please make sure that the sound is not in mute. If it's unmute and still has no sound, try to uninstall and reinstall the audio driver. Drivers are located in device manager. Simply type device manager on the search box to find it. In the device manager, expand the sound video and game controller category, usually the audio driver is the realtek high definition audio driver or smart audio. Uninstall the driver and restart the laptop to take effect the changes. Restarting the laptop will automatically reinstall the audio driver. Test the sound.

Hope this works.

When ever I play video and sound files, or run computer games, even computer booting up, the audio is laggy and choppy with lots of static, and video playback is accompanying it by being choppy and laggy. ...

I would reinstall the sound driver by going to the control panel choose system then when the device manager tab comes up choose hardware.Find the sound devices then right click on it to remove it.Windows will autimatically re-install the device.

My toshiba laptop speakers (I think)

First thing to do plug in a headset if you have one and check to see if sound comes out . If you have sound then the problem is the driver for the audio. Try uninstalling and reinstall the drivers in device manager. If that doesnt work. Use the Toshiba device driver cd and completely uninstall and reinstall the audio drivers.
