Ok. this is a little complicated so I'll try and explain as clearly as possible. I bought a N1 wireless router from belkin and it works great I have but one small problem. I have an xbox360 hardwired to the router and two computers connected wirelessly. I'm trying to access the photos, music and videos on my computers using microsoft media center on my xbox. Both my computers acknowledge the existence of my xbox but my xbox can't access the computers... why! with my old router this worked fine, and when I hardwire the computer it works fine.

You can Convert the Router as an Access Point But your Wireless Modem Should Be Hard wired to router. But if your Router has an wireless Bridge Option in it you can Convert it as an Range Extender. Check For the Wireless Bridging Feature on your Router or Please Post your Router's Model Number Here. I Will Be Glad to Help you out... :)
When you only get 5 mbps are you connecting to the new router wirelessly or via the ethernet cable? If it is wirelessly then try connecting with an ethernet cable and see if you still get 5 mbps. If so then try resetting the router (the procedures for this will be explained in the manual) and re-test. Wireless connections can slow down due to obstacles such as thick walls or other obstacles of that type. If all else fails return the unit and try another.

I suggest setting this up with a WPA encryption rather than WEP encryption. This should get ya setup without a problem. Also, I've noticed live to be a bit buggy since Christmas. If you continue to have troubles after trying this call 800-4my-xbox. The recording will tell you if they are having network issues.
Right click on the network icon in your task bar and click view wireless networks, then when all the networks show delete them all and close the window, next, a pop up will say found wireless connections click the icon again and look for your connection in the list and click connect and enter the pass phrase
