Mitsubishi WS-55859 55" Rear Projection Television Logo
Anonymous Posted on Oct 14, 2010

After a power outage, I got the dreaded blinking green light on my Mitsubishi ws-55859. I replaced the caps in the DM board and the tv now turns on. Problem is, it turns off again about 2minutes later as if it was over heating. I get the blinking green light again for about 30 seconds and then I can turn it on again.

I believe I am not conveying the problem correctly. The tv worked fine. The power went out. When the power returned, the green timer light flashed non stop. The tv would not turn on. I had the 7 capacitors replaced on the DM board. I mention had them replaced because I figured it was best to have a proffesional do the soldiering, not me. I re installed the DM board. The tv now turns on and works fine, but only for about two minutes. At that time it turns off. My green timer light starts blinking for about 30 seconds and then I can turn the tv back on. It acts as if it was rebooting or the same as if I hit the reset. If I run the self test, I recieve a code of 1,2. This means, normal operation. The remote does not come into play during any of this.

I'm hoping you will read all the solutions I have recieved. No one seems to read the whole thing and asks me to do something I have already done or gives me a solution that makes no sense to me. The last expert gave advice sounded like things I have already done and in a manner that seemed I was a tv tech. If I was, why would I be using this?

You have a bad soldering - when it heats up it loses contact and the tv just shuts down. Take all the boards out and check every single soldering - move the soldered part with your finger to view the bad one more clearly - and redo them. Then put the boards back in and check every single connector for play and crimp them if you have doubts.

Unplug it from the power outlet, plug it back in , press and hold the power button for 5 seconds. the led will blink x number of times a short pause, followed by another series of blinks. please let me know how many times it blinks before and after the pause and let me know so that I can tell you what the problem is.

Sorry I did not see your previous comments. Now I have. Yes error code 12 means normal operation. Do the fans start up? Do you hear any clicking noise before it starts blinking?

Hello,
When you turn it on the green light comes on, blinks with remote functions but has no sound or picture. I have replaced the main board with no change.

When you say that you have replaced the capacitors in the DM main board i assume you mean the power board? If the green light comes on and blinks when the remote is touched it was never a issue with the main board, if it was you wouldn't have any signs of power. In most projections TV's you have the main board which is normally the power board, the signal board which receives signal and hold settings of the TV which can be all in one, the other is the inverter board, which scrambles the signal to what you see on the screen, and next we have the back light which lights the screen so you can see the picture, sometimes in certain models as i have learned you can have power/inverter boards which means the inverter and power are all on the same board, in your case i presume the inverter board is separate board and probably the issue you need to address, you can buy these online probably the same place you got your new main board from. Hope this help in solving the problem....

Hi,

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems, to activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input/or device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times.

Let me know,so that we could Proceed.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

The green timer light is blinking with no interruption on my WS-55859. TV will not power on after the reset button is reset or is disconnected from power.

Thats almost always caused by failed DM capacitors on the DM power board. There are 7 that will need replacement. There is a repair kit called the WS55859 DM repair kit which has the caps and the CD with repair instructions available from www.tvrepairworld.com

I have a WS 55859 and after power outage i got the green POWER light blinking. I replaced all seven capacitors 1000uf but i still can't switch it in? Any other advice? Rgds FM

If replacing the 7 caps doesn't work I then try to re-solder the small 8 pin ICs. Be very careful and try to avoid cooking it or leaving a solder bridge. If that doesn't work either you'll have to replace the DM-POWER board. You'll beed a Mits authorized service center to order the part. Goodluck.

Green blinking light following a power outage

I rebuild the DM power supply in these sets with about a 50% success rate. Sometimes changing the 7 1000uf caps on the small power supply in the DM will fix it, you'll also have to solder the small 8 pin ICs as well. Do this carefully as you do not want an accidental bridge. If this does not fix your problem, replace the DM-POWER board not the DM Assembly. It's about a 300 dollar difference. You'll need a mitsubishi authorized service center to order the part for you. Goodluck.

The power outage went out yesterday and my tv wont turn on

Hi,
Most likely it is capacitors on the dm board that have gone bad. This is a fairly common problem and has been addressed on fixya many times. If you know someone who is good with soldering and technically incline or even an honest electronics guy then the repair is quite cheap. If you have any other questions please let me know. if its not the capacitors on the DM supply then its a problem with the whole DM assembly that part usually is around 300$. So you may want to consider purchasing a new tv. Trying the 7 caps on the dm supply board shouldn't cost much if it takes anything more then that. I would sell the tv on craigslist or ebay and recoup as much as you can towards your next tv.
thank you,
