Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

My television is an Olevia LCD model number 542-B11. It was dropped on it's power button. After taking it apart I noticed that the push-button switch that controls the power had been obliterated. The button had the marking 18v HT on it, and the actual part number for the IR/Power board itself is EPC-P501801-000. I'm not sure where I can find a replacement part for either of those two items, or how I can go about fixing it otherwise.

I tried shorting the contacts but it still doesn't seem to be working, maybe the board will only accept a signal at a specific voltage? Also, I tried to get in touch with Olevia but to no avail.

Tried shorting it, and it still wouldn't work. I also can't get in touch with anyone from syntax-olevia. Any other ideas?

Ok, this button is usually a simple Push to Make switch, almost ANY switch that would momentarily short out the contacts will work, there is nothing special about them, indeed you may be able to activate the switch, by simply shorting out the contacts on the PCB, as long as it doesn't have 120V on it though, usually NOT, but check anyway.. The switch was rated at 18V, so it indeed looks like a low voltage switch...
Obtaining an exact replacement may be difficult, your best bet would be to contact Olivia direct, weblink below. They either can sell you the part, or put you in touch with a parts supplier.

Olevia 542-b11 LCD HDTV won't turn on. Blue light blinks twice

My Olevia 42" television is several years old. In March of 2012, the infamous "TV will not power on" problem started.

The blue LED light on the front of the TV would go off for a split second, then light up again. The television would not start.

If you are handy with small tools and a soldering iron, you can change the capacitors on the power supply. My Olevia is a model 542-B11.

I bought the repair kit off eBay from seller: sghill99

As of this writing, the seller has sold 37 of these kits. The title of the auction is: Repair Kit, Olevia 542-B11, LCD TV, Capacitors

And if the url is still active, it is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230554940338&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:US:3160

I made the repairs in March 2012 and it is now August 2012 and the television is still working great. It is turned on and off several times every day.

Model 542-B11 External signal won't display (settings menus work)

Hi there,

Well first of all yo can try to reset your TV, just turn it off for more the 24 hours and then turn it on again, it helps you to reset your TV. (turn off your TV from main housing not only from the TV power button).

The HDMI port on my Olevia Model 337-B11 LCD tv quit working. Is there an easy fix?

Without replacing the main board, probably not. Did you try another HDMI source to verify the TV is at fault? If it is the cheapest fix is to use component only.

Tv wont turn on

Replaced two N-Channel Mosfet transistors(FQPF13N50CF-ND) and some faulty electrolytic caps in the power supply. I found the Mosfets online at Digi-Key. Mosfets are difficult to read. Only one read bad but I replaced both because they are in the same circuit. Set works great now.
