Question about Whirlpool Dryers
Hi and wlecome to FixYa I am Kelly.
Open the door and turn the drum by hand. Your checking to see if the belt is still around the drum and not broken. If it turns with little resistance the belt has broken and the belt safety switch will prevent the dryer from working.
Also listen for a door switch click just as the door opens and near the closed position. No click = bad door switch.
A bad start button relay wil also cause this.
Addiitionally if the dryer is full of lint and the one time fail thermal fuse / thermistor has opened from excessive heat due to lack of airflow it will not start.
Check around the lint filter, in the dryer exhaust duct and all the way through to the outside wall for lint obstructions.
Lastly a broken blower wheel hub will cause lack of air-flow and result in the thermal fuse failure.
If you want your model specific data, please repsond with your model number.
Thanks for choosing FixYa.
