Question about Toro Lawn Mower With Toro Power Tools

1 Answer

My Toro has a problem with stopping after awhile. Lately I can go 2 or 3 laps in my yard and my Toro stops. It doesn't act like it is running out of gas, it just stops suddenly. I have done what "mrfixxit-jerr" had mentioned but nothing. If I leave it for awhile it will start again but only go for 2 or so minutes. Please help

I suspect it may be losing valve clearance as it warms up. If this is the case a valve adjustment has to be done. But before you get into that, the cap on your gas tank has a vent, make sure those holes are open. This will also cause these symptoms and its an easy fix. If that doesn't work repost and I will walk you through that procedure, also state if it is a flat head or overhead valve engine.

Oddly enough, if the gas cap is dirty or clogged with debris, sometimes the vacuum created inside the fuel tank is serious enough to stop or hinder fuel flow to the carburetor, causing this exact problem. Inspect and/or clean the cap. Replace if the venting isn't clear.

Have you cleaned it lately? Your registry might be full. Try free windows registry repair. It cleans the registry and your pc runns faster and smoother. You may have to run it 2 to 3 times at first and then at least once a week to keep it clean.

Whenever I turn my wipers on they work for a little while then they start acting up. They usually pulsate a little bit, go back and forth erratically then stop working. From time to time, I can pull on...

It appears to me it is in the electric wiper motor . I believe it is the brushes in the motor going out. It most cases it is better to replace motor then to rebuild it. Or better yet check local recking yards and get get motor real cheep.

Our Toro, guaranteed to start, won't start. We can cut awhile, then it will not restart. Plug is fine, getting a spark, and not at all wet, can't seem to find the problem. This doesn't...

I have the same problem. One time this happened and it restarted after a few hours and worked fine for 5 more cuts over a couple of months time. Now again it quit mid cut of my yard and would not restart. When trying to start it would fire for a few seconds and than shut off again. I wated a week to try it again and now it does nto fire at all. This is about a year old mower with only about 10-15 hours of total use.

My toro ride on mower cuts out after 45 minutes or so have to let it cool down for awhile before i can start it

Try this:
As soon as the mower begins to shut off, stop, keep it running, lift the hood and loosen the gas cap. If it begins to run better, clear the vent hole on the cap. If not, you have wasted very little time.

How do you hold the blades on a toro LX460 while breaking the nut loose to change them

Use a piece of 2x4 and a clamp. Clamp the wood to the inside of the deck using the clamp. When the blade comes around and bumps against the wood it should act as a stop. Or you could rig something with a Vise-Grip plier. Lock onto the blade with the Vise-Grip, run a piece of rope from the pliers to a point on the mower where it will stop the blade from turning.
