Macbook airport I have a 13" Macbook running 10.5 that is having major problems connecting to wireless networks. I have a Macbook Pro that is not having these problems so I know the router is configured properly. Can I get a usb wireless card and use that instead of the builtin airport? Thanks!

You should try a software update first along with a PRAM and SMC update (hold the power button down when the computer is off for 15 seconds-it will beep. immediately after that hold down the Apple, option, P and R keys simultaneously until the computer reboots and chimes 3 times)

Apple Macbook Pro does not connect to wireless network

The antennas in the Macbook Pros have had an issue with reception due to the aluminum housing of the laptop but, should still receive decent reception just not as much as a plastic Macbook or plastic PC laptop. It could be possible that the antenna's cables have become disconnected from the Airport Extreme card inside your Macbook Pro, that the card itself is faulty or damaged or that the Antennas themselves have been damaged in some way. As always make sure you have the latest updates and have installed any driver updates from Apple regarding your Airport Extreme card. Here's an article that may help eliminate any wireless interference that may be affecting your signal strength. Apple - Wireless Interference hope this helps, if so don't forget to comment, vote, etc. Thank you.

Attempting to connect new Acer netbook to existing Mac network

Had the same problem. What i did was in the Airport Configuration program goto "Airport" then to "Wireless" and then to "Wirelesee options" In this menu deselect "Use wide channels". Also i decreased the power of the 5.0 Ghz transmission, because i don't use it yet. But i think the "Wide channels" is the reason of the problem. It is a bit weird thoug, on my Airports Guest acount with no password and incryption, the Acer One loged on perfectly, but on my private network with WPA2 it did not. Aparantly the Guest network does not use "Wide Channels" Hope this helps, but take care, maybe the menu's are called differendly because i had to translate them from Dutch. Good luck.

Could not connect to campus wifi through leopard

You may need to access the network with the ASCII password. Is there a system administrator you can contact to get this code? It will be a very long string of characters and replaces the typical password you seen in many Airport type setups.

Campus wifi not able to connect

You can only use your Airport with one OS at a time. If you have OS X using it, XP will be able to piggyback.

Networking a Printer on a wireless network

Deanna, if the mfc is not that old, take it back to the dealer and ask for changing it to a wireless printer (extension: CW). Do you really need the fax function? If not, try this printer: DCP 750CW. If yes, get the MFC 845 CW. The CN printer have to be connected directly to router or pc/laptop.
