i am a ict technician and i have looked on there website but when you install the Intel driver it says your system is doesnt meet the minimum requirements for installing the software and ATI driver says no componets found setup will now exit. Both of these drivers are defo for xp and state the laptop model so i really dont see why they wont work. I have also contacted acer and they are useless

I missed the part about laptop, sorry. U can go into the bios and make sure that the setup is for the TFT display. Also when U installed the XP os, did U tell it that it is a laptop with the TFT display. They should be compatible but I think the answer may be to reinstall the XP indicating its a laptop. XP pro doesn't care but I believe XP home does. The properties still default to VGA but it will load the correct TFT drivers to update after installation.

As a quick test, U can attempt to update the video driver from the XP cd.

Can you downgrade from vista to xp on an acer t180?

Of course you can.
The only concern would be drivers, but all drivers that exist for Vista exist for XP as well. Just go to Acer's download page (link) and download all necessary drivers before you downgrade. (this is especially important for your Chipset and LAN drivers, so you have them handy when you reinstall.

The site is a little it confusing, but after you chose "Desktop -> Aspire -> Aspire T180", you will see a small drop-down menu, where you can choose your operating system and your language.

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

Replace the Vista Home Premium with XP on ASPIRE M1202

Your best option is to upgrade to Windows 7. It is free for (I believe all) Vista users, and you can run programs in XP compatibility mode.

Tried to restore system and request for vol 3 and I don't have it

If you dont have the volume 3 disc then you will need to reinstall the system from a standard windows oem cd. you may be able to borrow one off somebody but it has to match your licence label on the side of your machine. (must be xp home oem or xp professional oem etc.)

Downgrade Acer M1641 from Vista home premium to Windows XP

Its a driver incompatibility issue. Many hardware components designed for Vista are incompatible with XP. This means that the Realtek audio driver may be the Vista version. Also, some hardware has of yet no XP drivers, so your audio components were designed for Vista only.
While it may be possible to "force" the driver to work, it may involve a number of hacks to the Windows registry and other files.

No sound devices on my sony vaio VGN-CR322H laptop

Pl check the whether all driver from OEM have been installed including MB and try to reinstall the driver it should work fine. or reinstall the SP2 for win XP. then install the OEM driver again, this should work, else there might be hardware problem.

Make recovery discs for travelmate 5520

Hi,

There are two (2) versions of the Acer TravelMate 5520; TM5520-5313 (LX.TKU0Z.001) & TM5520-5678 (LX.TKU0Z.003).

There are two (2) possible ways you can get Recovery CDs:
1. Purchase from Acer here. You would need your 22 character Serial Number or the SNID which is 11 chars.;
2. Borrow from a friend with identical model, copy and burn to CD(s).

Alternately, you can install Windows Vista using an OEM CD (which again can be borrowed). You need to use the Windows key normally found in a sticker underneath the laptop. Thereafter, you need to download from the Acer website the appropriate drivers and install. You would need to select your Product Line, the Product itself and eventually the driver(s) that you need.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Only OEM editions of Windows Vista Business and Vista Ultimate can be downgraded to Windows XP Professional. Microsoft offers no downgrade rights for Vista Home Basic or Home Premium.
