Charging problem

There is a thing called a bridge rectifier. It clips 1/2 of the AC power coming from the alternator. It makes the battery think it is getting DC - it is actually rectified AC. If there is a bad diode in the bridge, your battery will not charge. Test with a flash light battery and lamp. Good will pass power in one direction but not the other. If you can get the light to work in both directions, there is a bad diode.

Yamaha V Star 1300 error code 12 How do I fix it?

I had error code 12 today. I checked each area the manual called for but...
  • It ended up being the battery.
  • The manual makes no mention of this check, so I suggest check this first.
  • How old is your battery?
  • Check the voltage before and after since if you hit the starter button you should see significant voltage drop.
  • Moreover, put a jump on it, turn the key and hit the starter.
  • Not only did the bike crank, but the error code went away and the meter operated normally.
  • Would have saved me disassembling part of the bike to check electrical out and would have got me back on the road sooner.

Bike won't start clicking fromsoleniod when i try. I believe it's the starter. How do I remove the starter

Not yet, that particular bike takes a very strong battery to start it. Remove the battery and take it to an automotive parts house. They'll usually test the battery at no charge. If you have to replace the battery, I the Yuasa Yumacron battery is the only battery made for that bike. It's called a "T" battery because of the preculiar shape of the battery on the bottom.

Battery missing for exercise bike

I have a Schwinn airdyne (model AD-3) that uses a button type battery in the count-down timer, which is above the work load indicator or the 'speedometer'. According to the manual I was given with the bike, it utilizes a 1 1/2 volt watch - type battery (LR44, A 76 or equivalent).

Hope this helps.

The new and improved exercise bikes have what is called magnetic resistance. This is where your resitance is created by a magnet and some sort of power source such as batteries or your bike being plugged into a wall outlet. If you are using batteries replace them. I found that with my elyptical exerciser new batteries made a world of difference in the resistance settings. Make sure the batteries are strong ones. If changing the batteries doesn't help then there may be another problem. This could be the computer or a magnetic part. These parts are usually replaceable through the manufacturer. Just check your user manual and I am sure you can get it replaced. I hope this has been helpful.
