Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

Frigidare dryer is leaving Waffle pattern left on clothes after coming out of dryer. Only waffle pattern is back wall of dryer what is going on? Frigidard infinity dryer 3 yrs old

Does it look like a scorch mark? The hot air inlet is usually near the top of the dryer and it would seem that the only time that something like that could happen is if the dryer stopped with clothes in contact with the hot air inlet. Dryer overloaded? Is the dryer vent plugged with lint.
The thermal fuse should blow if the inlet air exceeds 309 Degrees fahrenheit. Is the dryer cycle working properly. There should be a cool down .period before the dryer stops. If you have not cleaned the dryer vent pipes it would be a good thing to at least check.

Tip

Saving money drying clothes

The biggest thing to remember about your clothes dryer is that it has to get the moisture out. If you keep your venting clean it will aid your dryer in shorter drying times. The more heated dry air it can pull through wet clothes while they are tumbling the faster clothes will dry.
If the venting is restricted by lint or kinked, or low quality venting, all end up costing more in drying times. Use good venting, preferably steel, and do use the proper vent cap on the outside wall.(check lint does not catch here also)Many service calls could be prevented by regular maintenance of venting.( thermal safety fuses which all dryers have are the reason for most service repair calls when the venting has not been cleaned) Also the shorter distance your dryer is vented, the better.

The second less obvious problem is not cleaning the lint screen. All the air or almost all passes through this screen before being exhausted outside. You need to clean the lint first. Second you need to wash the lint screen in the sink to clean off any build up of fabric softener that can also cause slow drying. Water should run straight through the metal mesh, if it ponds it is coated with softener, and water should wash this off.(I have been on service calls where dryers were not drying correctly and just washing off the lint screen of fabric softener fixed the problem)
Lastly wiping the two short parallel bars about three inches long found inside the dryer with alcohol to remove any fabric softener or other coating will keep the automatic cycle working right. Not all dryers use these........
Before thermistors, when thermostats were all that was out there.........
Hope this saves you some money and time.......

Hi cdsca66...

Check and clean if necessary your vent hose.
If you vent hose "seems" to be clean then, try running the dryer with the vent hose off and see if the dryer is not running hot anymore.
Make sure your lint screen is in place and has no tears or holes in it and is still firmly attached to the frame.
If you are running too hot you are not moving enough air thru the system.
It could be that the fan blade is plugged up.
The problem could be a large lint ball build up in the center of the fan or a sock, thin pants,a pen, etc. that has gotten into the fan by falling down the hole where the lint screen is normally inserted.
You have to find the air restriction to solve the problem.
It also can be a loose or worn out blower wheel/fan.
Please take time to rate me.

Whirlpool dryer not drying

your dryer is likely clogged up with lint .. that would be after the lint filter .. the pipe that carries the hot air out is usually completely clogged after that long .. it and the dryer itself (down inside) has to be cleaned about once a year to keep it tip top .. hopefully you can find someone that can take it apart and clean everythiing .. that should get you back to like new performance .. or you could call a few handymen to see what they would charge to clean the lint from your dryer and stack .. or if you are handy there is a special big brush with a string attached .. you pull that thru the stack to clean it .. use a vacuum cleaner to get inside the dryer vent (you can see in the vent when you take the hose off .. excessive lint buildup not only greatly reduces your dryers efficiency but is a fire hazzard as well ..

Model DLE7177RM, takes about 3 hours to dry a load of clothes. Dryer is NOT overloaded.

Does the dryer heat up or is it just cool air drying the clothes ? If it does actually dry the clothes eventually then it sounds like it is heating up. First thing to check would be exhaust hose. Is warm air blowing out of it ? If warm you got heat. If cool then your heating element isn't working. It should be fairly strong current of very warm air. If weak but warm, then somewhere between lint filter and end of hose you have a blockage caused by lint buildup or hose is bent and blocking air flow. Check hose first. You can disassemble lint trap and go beyond the lint screen into metal duct within dryer and clean with a long brush and vacuum. You can also disconnect exhaust duct flexible hose at back of dryer and work through metal duct from that end too. If you notice increased air flow then it should solve problem,

My Whirlpool Clean Touch electric dryer is not drying clothes very well. It is not getting real hot, and it takes two cycles to get most things dry. Towels and jeans take part of a third to dry. I clean...

IF YOUR DRYER HEATS AT ALL, BUT WON'T DRY THE CLOTHES, 99 PERCENT OF THE TIME THERE IS A RESTRICTION IN THE AIR FLOW. PULL THE EXHAUST OFF OF THE BACK OF THE DRYER AND DRY ONE LOAD. IF IT DRIES O.K., THERE IS A RESTRICTION IN THE DUCT WORK.
CLEAN OUT THE LINT FROM THE DUCT WORK. IF THE DUCT WORK IS FLEXIBLE MATERIAL, REPLACE IT WITH RIGID 4 INCH METAL DUCT.

Dryer is heating but not get clothes dry...

make sure you have a strong air flow from the dryer it self take hose off and run the unit it should force your hand away if not your dryer is stopped up you will have to take fan casing off and clean (the metal going to hole for vent hose) if you do go outside and make sure you vent outside is opening and free of lint also wash your lint filter with warm soapy water fabric sheets stop them up and cause longer drying time
