Since this is a 90 %[condensing) furnace is there no need to service the water condensate hand- ling system? The flue in this unit is nothing more than 2.5" ABS exhaust pipe.

Hello my name is Heath it will be my pleasure to assist you. To properly service the furnace the burners need to be taken out and cleaned with a wire brush the heat exchanger needs to be cleaned with a shop vac. The heat exchanger needs to be inspected. The ohms of the ignitor should be checked. The amps on the inducer, blower, gas valve and ignitor should be checked. The flue should be taken abart vacumed and inspected. The furnace should be wiped down witha rag including the doors. If its a standing pilot the themrocouple should be cleaned.

Firstly check the flue and make sure their are no birds nests or junk in flue ,then check the burners for any insect nests in the gas jets ,yes its common and happens a lot where spider wasps live ,they lay their eggs on a live spider and seal the hole up with mud .very common trust me ,then fire it up and make sure the flames are all blue and no yellow and away you go not a lot involved but ?? dont do it and flue not clear carbon monoxide poisoning can result

Furnace computer won't let furnace light

What is the model number? I have an SLP98 (installed on 11/29/2011).... and if I take the cover off the front of the furnace the panel that has the fancy "Lennox" badge on it) you will see two clear round windows about the size of a half dollar (one high on the furnace box and one lower on the blower box.) If you look downward into the window on the blower box you can see a red LED display that will sometimes flash error codes like E228 (one character at a time). If your model has something like this, let me know. I've done some DIY fixes recently out of necessity....and their easy.....and several technicians confessed they didn't know much, if anything, about the newer high effieciency Lennox gas furnaces.

Heater heats but shuts off

Try the fan in the ON position on the thermostat, do you mean the fire shuts off or the blower?

At tstat press options. Press installer setup. Yes, you are qualified. System settings, non heat pump. Gas/ oil heat. Save changes. That should do it with no wiring changes.

I have the same issue with a G21Q4-5-100-1 model lennox. House drops 8 - 10 degrees. I have 3 thermostats and all react the same way. I was told by service tech that the Ignition Coontrol Module is bad and acting intermittanely. ???

Furnace unit to be louder now than last season

Check your air filter, make sure all registers are open full and there is no restriction in all ducts. Could be an unbalanced fan, clean the squirll cage fan with a brush and vacuum.

Lennox Fan will not come on when set to ''auto'' position.

Expensive is relative, service calls are never free. But if you have an idea what the problem is, you are armed against an unethical service company. Now to what you describe, could be a couple things, first let me explain the difference in fan speeds. Furnaces that both heat and cool have multi-speed blower motors. High speed is for cooling and lower speeds are for heating. The fan switch at the T-Stat turns on the high speed fan relay. The lower speed fan is turned on by either a temperature activated switch (silver box mounted on front on furnace above burners) or a time delay relay which is solid state. That being said, your problem could be a defective fan switch or one of your blower motor windings has gone bad. Most motors have 3 or 4 speeds and a technician could just change speeds and all would be good. A fan/limit switch is not so expensive that you would replace the unit. Bottom line, unless your really handy, a heating company is in your future. Good luck and please rate my answer if it was helpful to you.

The bearings are bad. You need to replace the motor. Motor cost $75 to $125. Labor is on avg. $150 to $400 with an decent A/C Company . You can try to oil it but its not recommend by Lennox. That furnace at the time they build it was top of the line. Good Luck.
