Re: Ibm 6400 Printer thin 3 copy module loading problem
The 6400 paper present sensor works off the reflection of the paper itself, so if the paper you are using is black on the back the sensor cannot work as there will be no reflection. You need to remove the sensor and rotate it in its housing 90 degres so that it is facing the flag on the paper motion sensor, you may also have to paint this flag white (reflection to work) tipex is ok for this.

I have a IBM 6400 printer in AS 400 system. I want to convert that printer to PC system to print daily to day printing which I can support Window XP and Windows 7.Please let me know the coorrect way to do that and what are the software I need to download.?
I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy
paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print
button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it
will feed through the printer. The reason for this is in some cases I
have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this
way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps.Bud
IBM does not manufacture printers any more, they outsourced that to other places like Lexmark & ProPrinter, so we have to figure out which outsource place is relevant & what name they have for whatever corresponds to 6400 driver.
Hold cancel+stop while powering on the printer to enter the maint menu. You can wipe the firmware from there. You need to have a copy of the microcode firmware to reload. If you are uncertain about these instructions, you absolutely should not attempt it.
