No parallel port on my computer. USB -parallel

This scanner is an old one so it has only parallel port. You can connect it to any USB with the converter you mentioned and should be working. Did you connect the power supply at the scanner too? It is nesessary for the scanner in order to take power.

Can the P2055d be connected with a parallel lead?

Most HP's if they have a port for parallel, it is a special plug on the back that looks more like a SCSI plug. If your printer has this plug you need the special cable, otherwise you will need an adapter to convert USB to parallel.

Packard bell scanner driver this is an old scanner but unused. Is there any compatible software or drivers that allow its use on XP or vista.

Hi:
If your scanner is a parallel port scanner, and not a USB type, then it is very difficult to set up on Windows XP or newer. There are some USB adapters that convert a parallel port , but usually only good for printers, and not scanners.

Connecting old IBM color flatbed scanner to new computer

Not likely to work reliably if you get it to work.
The parallel port must be set to communicate in both directions. The SUB to Parallel adapter may be a ONE-WAY communications device.

Get a new (or used) Epson scanner or Epson all-in-one ($50) which includes a scanner and printer! Your new computer may not have the proper drivers for your old IBM scanner, anyway. If you purchase an Epson all-in-one, get a "WorkForce" model - that's their latest product line.

Cable connectivity with my laptop through a "parallel to usb cable". My laptop has no parallel port but only usb ports.

make sure you follow this step :
1. install driver USB to Paralel port (LPT1) before the cable connected to PC
2. After the driver installed, install the cable - and it supposed to be detected
3. the last think u have to do is install the scanner/printer driver

if it is not work, i guess the problem is on the USB to paralel adapter, or the driver not installed correctly

No port for printer connection

It has usb ports... if your printer is Parallel you should purchase a parallel to usb adapter.

here is an example of an ebay auction for one...

http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-to-PARALLEL-PRINTER-ADAPTER-1284-CABLE-36-PIN-IEEE_W0QQitemZ250463737409QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCA_Cables_Adapters?hash=item3a50cd5641&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

They are cheap

Hope this helps.. remember if the cable is not long enough on the adapter you can always buy a usb extender.

I have a canon bjc 80 connected via usb to acer laptop with vista on says hardware successfully installed & sounds like it is printing but will not feed paper or print !! have not used a disc to install...

Purchase a PCMCIA parallel port adapter. the USB to parallel adapters are a pain to set up and are flakey at best. The PC card adapter provides a native parallel port to laptops without one, and works perfectly in ALL cases, even with the scanner cartridge.
