AVASTFREE is probably the best anti-virus program I've seen. Scroll down the page and select the language, etc.
download and schedule a boot scan, reboot and let it run. The virus scan is done before windows is loaded so it will find everything and delete it. When it finds the first virus/trojan/worm select delete all.

The registration is free and you have 3-6 mos to register.

If you need a good registry cleaner let me know.

Virus came on my screen of my laptop, laptop shut down and now will not start, the screen saying samsung comes up then nothing else happens?

Helen,

Please tap F8 right when the computer boots up, before the Samsung logo appears.

Choose safe mode with networking.

Download this free software to remove virus:

http://malwarebytes.org/

If you cannot get online with the infected computer, in safe mode. Then download malwarebytes from another computer to a flash drive or cdrom and install on infected computer.

Run a full san on the computer.

This will get rid of the virus.

My computer seems to be infected by the Backdoor, Tidse virus. I have Norton/Symantec anti-virus. Every time I start up the computer, Symantec tells me that a restart is required. Then I restart & it...

Your best bet is to reimage the machine. Even if you get rid of the virus you also get rid of the file(s) it infected. That means those files are no longer available to run and they typically are critical system files. Viruses will hide and then repopulate if you don't completely format and put a clean image on the system. Because you probably don't want to loose all of your data you will want to back it up. Here is another problem because some of that data could be infected as well. I recommend removing the hard drive and use another computer that has a good anti-virus system, backing up your data to another device. Be sure to check your email files because they can bring a virus into your system. Chasing a virus can be frustrating and ultimately unsuccessful. Bite the bullet and give yourself a clean system.

Computer shuts off in safe mode when trying to run scan

You are still infected. You need another computer to download the program to and then put it on a flash drive, then install the program on the infected computer with the flash drive and run it. Click on the link below for the program I use. You did not tell us what you already tried, but this program is good for disinfecting 95% of the nastyies out there. Intsll and let the program update. Run the quick scan only and when the scan is complete it will ask you to click on the "show results" button, do so and it will list all the infections on your system. Click on the "remove Selected" button, this will either delete, fix or quarentine the affected files.

My computer wont boot up

If your computer was infected then it is still infected unless you have used an anti virus program to remove the infection. After removing the virus you then can install xp. Hope this helps.

Computer is infected with viruses

Blue screens as a result of infection mean the virus has corrupted the operating system. You can fix it by doing an operating system repair with your recovery or operating system disc. Depending on the virus, this may only be a temporary fix. If this turns out to be a temporary fix, then the sure way to fix it is to completely wipe the hard drive, completely reformat using NTFS, and reload the operating system, which I would recommend. If you have any problems during or after the reload, then the virus damaged the hard drive and it will need to be replaced.
