It takes a start relay and start capacitor to start the compressor. And they fail quite often.

I have a a old Gibralco compressor when i cut it on it starts fine when it reaches desired pressure it stops and restarts until i kicks the breaker what can i try

i suspect that the start/run capacitor is faulty or the centrifugal switch in the back of the motor is faulty

have an accredited electrician check the motor , capacitor and the pressure control switch
the air leak at the head is a faulty non return valve in the compressor line to the tank
available at good tool shops for around $60.00

Air compressor Don't work Blows hot air

Most likely you have a leak in the system. The low pressure switch will not allow the compressor to run if the pressure in the system is too low. Could be a faulty switch or low pressure in the system. If the compressor is running, but you get no cooling, you have a leak.

My viking under counter refrigerator freezes all liquid

Is it a digital temp. display? Does this show a low temp? It should show +/-34 degrees. Listen if the compressor runs continuously. It should run for a while and then switch off. When you change the temp setting, as you turn it down, the compressor should stop. If it runs continuously then the likely cause is a stuck/faulty thermostat. Before replacing this, switch off and leave open until unit is at room temp. Then switch on again and monitor. If the thermostat if faulty and the compressor runs continuously you can damage it by overheating. The compressor will run for a good few hours after restart, until set temp. is reached and then switch off automatically. Good luck!

AC BLOWING WARM AIR

Could be low on freon, a faulty pressure switch, blown fuse, or problem with the compressor / clutch.
Check to see if the compressor is working with the engine running and the ac switch on.

Its a ten gallon 2.0 hp air compressor and it wont cut off when reaching max psi

This is caused by a mis-adjusted or faulty pressure switch. You can start by unplugging the compressor, removing the pressure switch cover (probably where your power cord goes into) and turning the adjustment a bit counter-clockwise ( 2 or 3 turns).

Then give it a test run. If it doesn't seem to adjust, replace the pressure switch.

My compressor quit working when i flip the on switch it does nothing any ideas what is wrong???

If the tank is full (pressurized): Nothing will happen when the switch is turned on. Bleed some air from the tank to see if the motor turns on when the pressure drops.

If the tank is empty or low on pressure: First check the circuit breaker to the outlet the compressor is plugged into. Next, somewhere on the compressor, usually on the motor, there is a circuit breaker. They are usually a small round white or black button that if tripped will stick out about 1/4 inch or more. Push that back in and check to see if your motor runs. The usual reason for these circuit breakers to pop is because the compressor is being run on an extension cord. Rule of thumb for compressors: run longer air lines, NEVER use extension cords. If it is absolutely necessary to run an extension cord it should be 10-guage and no longer than 25 feet.

Dewalt air compressor keeps running until pressure output is 200 PSI, the same pressure in the tank. Why doesn't it quit running at 120 PSI the designated pressure on the compressor?

The regulator switch/unloader is bad or out of adjustment. Perhaps though the gauge is faulty. 200 psi in a 120psi compressor is dangerous, don't run it until it is fixed!

Runs fine then for weeks then trips on high limit

Hi, sometimes high-limit goes bad, but why, check to make sure you're not overloaded with produce, check to make sure freezer has good ventilation, if your days are hot, high limit will switch off, to pretect compressor, could be compressor getting faulty, you should empty freezer, clean and restart empty for an hour, if freezing o/k, put back produce, if when clean and empty, does same thing, maybe your compressor is faulty, called a mechanic, or replace high limit switch. good luck.

Breaker relay tripping out

If the unloading valve trips , which i think is the safety valve that tells me the compressor is pumping up past its maximum allowed pressure. that black switch should be the overload switch. check the amps of the wires going to the motor while its running and then look at the name plate of the motor to see the maximum amount of amps that the motor is allowed to draw.
