Question about HP DesignJet 9000 InkJet Printer

3 Answers

My HP designjet 9000s gives me error message 1180 when I try to use the print head recovery or when the printer goes into it's self clean. I have tried greasing the gears cams and shafts that raise and lower the capping station to no avail. The tubes under the capping station are not stiff. The thing is that the capping station seems to raise and lower just fine when starting up, printing or during manual cap cleaning. It is just when self cleaning that I get the error message. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is? Or at least a quick fix so that I can print while I am waiting for the repair tech?

System Error 1180 is a "Capping Motor Error"

Description:
Capping Motor over current is detected.

When the ambient temperature is very low, the pump motor tube becomes hard and the load on the Capping Motor is increased. The Capping Station has a torque limiter for up and down operation so that the capping station does not experience any over current. Apply grease on the shaft of the capping station gear so that it helps with rotation and make sure that the capping station cables are connected correctly and not damaged. If the Capping Motor cannot be rotated, replace the capping station. Replace the Main PCA if problem does not go away after completing the steps above

Hello,

I will advice you reset the printer, follow the steps below to reset the printer,

  1. Unplug the power cable from printer while the printer is powered on.
  2. Press and hold OK and HELP buttons while plugging in the power cord. Wait for the screen to go black or blank before releasing the keys.

Hp designjet 5500 error codes

Error code 0C0040 is caused by the drop detector not detecting drops from at least 2 print heads in the same area. Run print head recovery on all the print heads and see if that clears up the problem. If not, then clean or replace the drop detector. Drop detector can be ordered from: http://www.lpscomputer.com/p-2512-c6072-60179-designjet-5000-5500-drop-detector.aspx
