Question about Mitsubishi WD-57733 57" HDTV

1 Answer

I had this TV WD 57733 for the past 5 yrs, and since last year it has started to switch off after a cold start in less than 3min of turn on, the amber light stays on and the green light blinks for 30sec. After that I can turn on and the amber light will go off after picture & sound comes on. Now this has become more frequent.! Any ideas? I have been keeping the back clean every month near the lamp..THx

Have you replced the lamp in not you need to replace it
if you have then you have a ballast issue
you still need to repalce the ballast anyway

Thank you very much for getting back so soon. Do you think its the bulb as when the TV is on after the switch off, there is no shut off/low brightness or any of that sort of issues. It runs fine. But every time it is turned on after a cool down (more than 2hrs) it will do that! I just want to be sure that it is the bulb/ballast.

well this lamps are rated for 6000-8000 life hours witch equal to 2-4 years of average use
so if you still have the original lamp I would say you need one anyway but you have a ballast issue for sure the lamp does not have the capacity to turn on or off but the ballast does
I found the lamp you need just in case

My WD 57733 will attempt to power up (almost like a whistling sound as it attempt to power up) then will power back down.

When was the last time you replaced the lamp? That sort of sounds like the ballast is unhappy with a bad lamp. The 57733 is a good TV. The other possibility is a stuck/dirty color wheel.

Check the lamp and see if it looks worn out(dark or grey in the tube down the center). Also make sure its either a Philips brand or Osram brand.

Let me know and Ill see what I can recommend next

I have a 57" mitsubishi

You probably have a bad lamp again I hate to say. These lamp are so critical when being moved. If after you atttempt to power on TV then red light shows, press menu+input on the front panel and hold for 5 seconds. Front timer LED will blink a 2 digit error code five times then stop. Code 34 and 66 are lamp errors, and if you read code 66 the lamp is broken. Good luck

My tv model wd-57733 has hundreds of black and white spots on screen.what is the cause and how do i fix it?

I developed white spots on the screen of my Mitsubishi WD-57734 in increasing numbers over days and weeks. I called a repair service who quoted me $1500 to replace the light engine. He suggested I call Mitsubishi Customer relations at 800-332-2119 option 5 which i did. To make a long story short after several conversations with them they agreed to replace the part for free if I picked up the labor (Would have been less conversations if I had the original purchase receipt). Instead of $1500 I paid $250. The tv was only 3.5 years old. Perseverance paid off.

If you get audio and it does that, it's a bad lamp. Had that happen to mine last month. Check your lamp.

Starting system cold, no sound for 2-3 minutes

Its not worth having it looked at. $100.00 for a new 400.00 unit? My unit is doing the same thing. Turn it on and 2 to 5 minutes later it may come on. Change to video 3 4 5 etc it stop again. Only works with a cold start. Something in the unit has failed and is heat related. My original Kenwood 20/20 recevier still works. Must be 40 years old. New products just last 5 to ten years max if your lucky.
