Question about Samsung SCH-a870 Cellular Phone

Lost my Contact List and recent calls

All of a sudden my contact list is gibberish - list of crazy looking characters that changes each time I go to the contact list, and no phone numbers stored any more. Also, my listing of recent calls is messed up - lots of calls missing, listed incorrectly, etc. Happened suddenly as battery was getting low and after going through airport security in Orlando this weekend. Battery is now recharged, shows full charge, has been pulled out and reinserted several times with no improvement. Phone functions for outgoing and incoming calls, but have not been able to add/replace any items on contact list.

Well one time {i had the same fone}  my contacts started to scroll uncontrollably, like as soon as i was in "contacts" it just started scrolling down so i wen't to the verizon store and it said i had water damage so maybe that could be the case? Take the battery out of your fone and look at the little square on the back. If it is any color but purple {most likely green} that means ur fone has had water damage and that you will need it to get replaced.

BlackBerry Tour: How to change contact pictures

With your BlackBerry Tour, you can assign each contact in your address book a picture, so that when that person calls you or when you call that person, their picture will show up on your screen. The contact picture can be any viewable picture stored on your BlackBerry, and setting one up is easy.

To add a picture to one of your contacts (or to change their existing picture) go to your contacts list and find that contact on the list. When that contact is highlighted, press the BlackBerry button (the one with seven dots that looks like a paw print) and scroll down the list of options until you see Add Picture, which should be pretty close to the bottom. Click the trackball, and a thumbnail list of your image files should pop up. (Some of the thumbnails might take a second to fully load.)

If there is a picture in that list that you want to use, just click the picture to select it. You can also go up to the top of the list and select Camera, which will allow you to take a picture at that moment and use that for the contact picture. Or you can go to Preloaded Pictures (right below Camera), which is a collection of different cartoonish profile pictures that come pre-installed on your BlackBerry.

Once you choose a picture, you'll see a message that says "Picture set." Now whenever you call that contact, that contact calls you, or you view their profile, that picture will appear. You can go back in at any time to change the picture by following the same process.

I can't delete people from my contact list I have a i776 phone

To delete a contact, just go into your contact list and highlight the contact that you wish to delete. Press the button directly above the green send button and scroll down to "Delete Contact". Press the OK button and follow the prompt if there is one after that.

Hope that helps.

Recent Contact List in Messaging is blank

I had this problem too. Found out that by shutting the phone off then turning it on again allows the 'Recent Contacts' list to build up again.

It will probably stay until a different contact takes it's place. You can also try adding their name again exactly as it was. After that, edit from your list of contacts by changing the contact name and number to that of directory assistance or other contact.
