Question about Olevia LT32HVM 32 in. LCD Television

2 Answers

I've had the Olivia 32" for about 2 years. Yesterday I had a storm pass by, and the TV blinked off, not the power for the house, just the TV. The blue indicator light on the TV was off. I manually, with the remote tried to restart, wouldn't come on. I unplugged the power cord and re-energized, the Blue light came on, the remote still did not work. I manually pressed on the TV the "power on" button, it came on and went to the "Home/Theater" picture screen. I went to the OSD links (menu button) and tried for Setup, and I could not enter the "IRC" and "Standard" links to get a picture. No go. Now I have no picture, and cannot link up to the OSD. I've tried the TV's Power Button, the "Source" Button, and the blue light just goes off. The remote just doesn't seem to do anything either, Any assistance??

In the meantime, waiting for your answer, I unplugged the power cord, reattached and clicked on the power button, the OSD screen came on, I went to Setup, TV,Auto Channel Search, Cable (I'm on Cable), and went through all the 4 settings (Auto/Standard/HRC and IRC), and tried each one. They all say "No Channels Found".

So here I sit, any more suggestions? I have two other TV's hooked up to a splitter and I get the cable channels thru them.

Hi,
replace main board of tv to fix the problem as it sounds static charge of storm damaged the sensitive parts on main board.
Main board has all inputs, tuner etc. Check Shop Jimmy for required main board availability by entering tv mode number.
Let me know model number of tv if you have additional question.
Thanks.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa.From what you have described it seems the issue is with the power board or the main board and we'll need to check few things. When you open the unit up; take a look at the power board-the board where the power cords/plugs goes into. You might see some filter capacitors a little bulged up in the top-If this is the case-this is your defective part(you can try to replace them-but some soldering equipment is needed). If not, then probably the main board has gone bad. This is the other board-where all the inputs are going into. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise and know how to solder/re-solder components. Please note that the TV components consists high voltages even when in off position. Please accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

First get the splitter checked and then your TV.

More than likely your power supply board is damaged. The scary thing about TV's that get damaged as a result of T-storms is that multiple boards can get damaged. I would suggest taking it to get it diagnosed properly instead of the 'guessing game". That game could cost you more in the long run.

I have a 2008 Toshiba tv 40RV525U model. We had a thunder/lightening storm. The power to the whole house did a on/off/on flicker. Now my tv only has a flashing power light (green). Does this mean my tv is...

The power source of the tv has been fried by the power surge and it must be replaced, the damage is surely to great to fix it. Pray to all your gods that the damage is limited only to the power source, otherwise the tv is truly dead.
Call a tv repairman, there's nothing more you can do.
And next time when you have a storm unplug everything with electronics in the house, from every wire.

Tv does not turn on after the storm

It is most likely the power supply burnt out. The capacitor's inside are made cheaper than the o'l days and get overheated easily. You can test capacitors with capacitor tester and service manual. You can test power supply output voltage with just a voltmeter

TV won't turn on

The 9 blinks usually mean that the power regulators are shot. This is a relatively simple repair and is a wear and tear item. Expect about $25-$35 in parts plus the local labor rate for the total repair cost. If you want to try and repair it your self, I can look up the part designations and numbers.
Keep me posted.

Blinking light wont turn on Toshiba TV CE19H15

Yes, it's quite possible that you indeed may have sufferd from a Power Spike, induced by lightning during the storm, esspecially if plugged in during said storm. I have had quite a few customers ova the years with this exact problem. I always advise my clients to unplug ALL devices during a storm, and for ones that simply cannot be unplugged then some sort of Spike/Surge Protection device MUST be used. As a matter of interest, I have written many a report to insurance companies to support a claim for a replacement.
