Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

Here is the user's manual:

http://www.reinsmith.net/content/automotive/Craftsman_Inductive_Timing_Light_Models_21027_%2021023_Owners_Manual.pdf

You connect the Red alligator clip to the 12V DC positive battery cable and the Black alligator clip to the negative battery terminal OR chassis ground. The inductive lead always is clipped on the the #1 cylinder spark plug wire and then you shoot the light on the area of the engine where the timing marks are. Timing marks are not in the same place on each engine. Older V8 engines the timing mark is on the harmonic balancer on the front of the engine. Newer small engine vehicles such as Honda the timing marks are on the flywheel and you will have to remove a rubber plug from the bell housing to see the marks. Also some manufacturers have you check timing with the vacuum advance hose removed and blocked from the distributor. Most timing information is in the engine data specifications of the vehicle owners manual.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

Kelly

I have lost my smart remote key for my Mazda CX-9 2011. Can I program a new one myself?

You may need 2 keys to do this, possibly just one. My source does not specify if 1 key will work but here is the procedure i found
With two programmed advanced keys
  1. Bring the programmed advanced keys (2) and a unprogrammed advanced key into the vehicle.
  2. Close all doors.
  3. Insert the supplementary key into the ignition key cylinder. NOTE:
  • Complete the procedures up to Step 7 within 30 s after the supplementary key is inserted.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  2. Press the UNLOCK button on advanced key 1.
  3. Press the UNLOCK button on advanced key 2.
  4. From the ignition switch in the ON position, switch the ignition switch in the order indicated below.
  • ACC->ON->ACC->ON->ACC->ON
  1. Open the driver-side front door, press the door switch twice , and then close the door. NOTE:
  • After Step 3 is completed and the advanced key programming mode is activated, the door lock actuator operates to lock, and then operates to unlock.
  • If the door lock actuator does not operate, repeat the procedure from Step 2.
  1. Press the UNLOCK button on the unprogrammed advanced key twice . NOTE:
  • After Step 8 is completed and the advanced key is programmed, the door lock actuator operates to lock, and then operates to unlock.
  1. If programming more advanced keys, remove the supplementary key once, and then repeat the procedure from Step 2.

Tv not working

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power led, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. Viewing it in "Mosaic" will make surf easy.

HOW DO I TIME A 1000 XLH

This is a difficult operation without the proper tools. I just did this on my 1981 XLH1000 because I replaced the Cam Set. Things you really need are the clear timing plug for the timing access hole, and a timing light with an advance control adjustment for the strobe.

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-advanced-timing-light/p-00914065000P?sid=IDx01192011x000001&kpid=00914065000&kispla=00914065000P

Sears makes one and I bought it many years ago. It makes timing so easy, that I would not attempt timing without it. REALLY. It turns a long tedious job into a 10 minute job. The rotational adjustment of the ignition base plate on the opposite side of the engine is a coarse adjust at best, and it is very easy to miss the timing mark in the window. With the adjustment on the timing light, you can twist the knob and see exactly how many degrees you are off. I never make adjustments while the engine is running, only measurement of where the mark is with relationship to the clear plug. Do not screw the plug in all the way, otherwise it will contact the flywheel and scratch it badly, rendering it useless.

It's really important to set the idle at 2000 or above, to make sure the engine is fully advanced.

To get the engine to start when you first start trying to time the ignition, follow the procedure below.

This should be enough information for just about anyone to set timing on a XLH Sportster

Good Luck!

2003 Ford Expedition XLT 4X4 4.6L. 70,000 miles. Had a rough idle then stalled. Happened 4 times today. CEL reports a lean left bank. Just finished changing spark plugs and fuel filter. Plugs were fine....

Cam Phasers. There is an Extended Warranty for them. What happens is the Cam Phaser is suppose to automatically adjust each cylinder bank independently. When one of the Cam Phasers gums up, it can leave a Cam over-advanced.

An over-advanced Cam will be lean and generate a lean Code for that side of the engine. An engine with one bank operating at 1 timing setting and the 2nd bank operating at a different setting will run rough and stall before blowing up.

Ford has given a 7 Year, Limited mile Extended Warranty for those DOHC engines having this problem. This can be a costly repair of around $2400. A recently developed "Cheater Procedure" can cut Labor from 8 to 4 hours with savings in gaskets resulting in a $1200 to $1600 repair.

Your vehicle may develop a Diesel sound which fades at 2000RPM. So contact a Dealer with a VIN# and go from there.

My night hawlk go 0 to 60 no problem when I get on the way I cam go 65 it bogs out even if I try to choke it to save it got new crabs, oil, plugs, airfilter???

Sounds like no timing advance. Will seem to go well up to about 55 or 60, but will run flat or even slow down above 60. Follow shop manual procedures for verifying timing advance operation. If you watch the timing mark with a conventional timing light, you will most likely discover the mark will not move when you rev the throttle. If this is the case, you must replace the electronic timing pickup or module. Consult shop manual for the correct procedure.

Programming kepad for Sears Craftsman Garagedoor opener 1/2 hp

The only procedure I have ever followed is to press the learn button and then enter the code, and not do anything else. I think your last step of holding the button until the light goes out is clearing codes as fast as you enter them. Just stop after you enter your code and let the learn mode time out on its own. That should do it.

And don't put your head through the wall. It just causes more headaches.
