I had this problem also. I tried turning off and turning it back on but that didnt work. I learned that it is a software failure and unless you're a CPU programmer with high quality programs designed to write software then you cant fix it. Your best bet is to call customer support.

What your having is an problen with your Grpahic Card, VERY common with the xbox 360. currently there is no easy fix as the card is built in. you will need to find a local repair shop or send it to xbox.com for repair
This is usually a precursor to your console receiving the "Red Rings of Death". However it could also just be a scratched disc.
You can also try to clear the harddrives cache "a. Locate the System section of the Xbox 360 Dashboard. b. Select
Memory, select Hard Drive, and then press Y to view the device options
screen.c. On the Xbox 360 Controller, press the X button, press the X
button again, press the left bumper, press the right bumper, press the X
button, and then press the X button again.d. You will be prompted to
confirm system maintenance, select Yes by pressing A."
Try playing your game without Xbox live at first. If it doesn't freeze up, then you have an internet connection problem. Try reconnecting wires. If it does freeze up without Xbox live, it may just be the game.
