Cam belt-landrover freelander

Hi, my cam belt went on my freelander 3 weeks ago,and i am still waiting for it to be repaired. they said that 12 valves were bent as well. i have no idea how long these things take, but do you think 3 weeks is acceptable?? i keep on to them, but they just keep saying it will be ready for me tomorrow.

The dealer gives a realistic tool time of 11 hours .This includes removing and refitting the cylinder head , replaceing all valves and grinding and seating the valves. The only extra time they should need is the engineering work which is normally subcontracted. In my professional capacity i would say they are taking too long.

I have a stagg microphone. its a pgt - 60. At the bottom it has 3 prongs. I have a xlr adapter. I plugged it into my computer and it installed correctly, but when i tried to use it in audacity it didnt...

The Stagg is a condenser microphone... It needs whats known as "phantom power" in order for it to function... Phantom power is a 12-48 volt source that usually comes from an audio console or some sort of pre-amp... You will need either an audio console or pre-amp to hear anything from it...

Why is my mic not picking up noise like it did when i first gotit

Double-check on the side of the microphone to make sure you didn't inadvertently activate the 10db pad.  If so, switch it back to the center position.
Also, on the US-122, make sure that the input is set to "mic" and that you have switched the Phantom Power to the "On" position.

Not getting any power in my 3-year-old Sennheiser MKE44P even with a fresh battery inserted.

Battery acid is very corrosive and if you have had a leakage then the acid could have gotten further up into the mic and corroded some of the components, most likely a small power lead from the contact. It is always worth taking the battery out after use, a £3 battery can ruin £300 worth of kit.

Hi djmalatesta

One could go all superstitious and suggest that it was just bad luck!! It is unusual for one of these industry standard mics to just stop. The most likely cause is the capsule has gone open circuit. you could check this with the 1k range on a multimeter by unscrewing the wind shield and measuring across the . connections to the capsule. If the capsule measures ok, it may be the wiring to the XLR socket at the base of the mic, the switch getting to there. Either way, it can be fixed. Can you meter out the capsule and report back to me what you found?
