Check the motor coupling to make sure it isn't broken.
And also check to see if something has clogged the water pump

I HAVE A TOP LOADER WHIRLPOOL LXR7144EQ1. i HAVE TO PUSH DOWN ON THE LID AFTER CLOSING IT OR HAVE SOMETHING HEAVY ON TOP FOR IT TO CONTINUE TO WASH. WHATS THE PROBLEM?

It sounds like the lid switch, which senses when the lid is closed, needs adjusting. You will need to remove the top of the machine, locate the switch and move it closer to the lid actuator.

WHAT YEAR IS THIS DRYER MODEL LGC8858 EQ 3?

The year Whirlpool appliances were manufactured can be determined through the serial number and not with the model number. The second digit of the serial number tells the year and the two digits next to it is the week of manufacture. Divide these two digits by four and you get the approximate month the appliance was manufactured. Click on the link below for the list of Whirlpool Year Codes which is also applicable to some Kenmore, Roper, Maytag, and other Whirlpool-made appliances.

I have a roper dryer but don't know what year it was made. the model number is REX4635EQ2 the Ser. number is MK0775343. What year model is this?

The second digit/character (K) indicates the year and the 2-digit numbers (07) immediately next to it indicates the week the dryer was made. The year code K is 2000 and your dryer was made on the 7th week of the year 2000 or February 2000. Click on the link below for the table of year codes of Whirlpool and Whirlpool-made appliances.

The two piece agaitor is not working the bottom part as it should .what makes the bottom part go in reverse ? model # LXR7144EQ1

Hi, Welcome to FixYa. You'll need to remove the top of the agitator, (the cap) and then the 9/16" or 1/2" or possibly a 7/16" bolt in the center...it may look nothing like a bolt, it may be a plastic block, but it still screws off counter-clockwise. Once you have the agitator unfastened, you'll expose the hub/retainer which hold's the gears in place. Now you need to install new dogs ( alone part # 80040 ) or part # 285751 as a kit with new hub too. These are availble at most brick & mortar parts depot's as well as on-line vendor's such as"repairclininc.com" or "searspartsdirect.com" to name a couple. I`d also suggest you go to "youtube" and type in "whirlpool agitator repair" you'll then find many helpful videos on "how to". The machines may have slight differences and features, but they are the same essentially...Kenmore, Whirlpool, Kitchen Aid, Roper & Estate etc. Hope that help's, let me know if I can assist you further. Thank's for visitng "fixya" today. Please take a second to rate this solution & leave a testimony. Good luck, macmarkus :)

Whirlpool washing machine model number LXR7144EQ1...machine will run, but agitator will not engage.

Had a similar problem. What you need are new "dogs" inside the agitator cone. "Agitator Repair Kit"
Parts found here: http://www.partselect.com/PartDetail.aspx?Inventory=334622&SourceCode=6
Guarantee this will fix the agitator not spinning/working, unless the entire spindle isn't going back and forth.
I ordered this kit from these good folk and it arrived in 3 days.
All you need to replace these parts is a 7/16" socket with a 6" or longer extension & socket driver.
10 minutes, you can do this!
Hvae fun!

Lid switch

Depends usually whirlpools have hidden clips or very simple to find screws. Hopefully you just have the one with the screws. Look at the back of the consol on the very left and right side you will see screws they are long so you wil be unscrewing for a minute.once you get the screws out pull the consol toward you and up. let the consol rest on the back plate it will be fine.next make sure there is no power unplug washer. next you will see goldish looking clips get a screw driver and push down and out. this will release the whole cabinet.Pull the cabinet toward you. it may snag up on the hoses so if it does not come off easy see what is holding it up. let me know how this works
