If the lights of the router are on (Power, DSL, Internet) are on, and on of them is blinking, you might need to rest the router. There is a recessed button on the back press it for at least 30 seconds and this will reset the router. Also, on your lower right hand corner of your computer look for an icon showing two monitors click it and see what the connection says.

The only computer I have is a Dell Insprion E1505 laptop and it is connected to a "COMCAST" cable modem. Windows XP, not Vista is installed. I purchased a LINKSYS WRT54G wireless router. I installed the setup disk and connected the modem to the router, and the router to the computer as step one, but when step two had me disconnect the router from the laptop so it could connect via wireless network, it just says "easylink advisor could not establish a wireless connection with the router
two laptops, a desktop PC and my son has Xbox live. I recently bought the Linksys wireless-g router with speed boost and that didn't work. If any of the laptops were on, the other wouldn't work and my son's Xbox live would lag. I was thinking about exchanging it for the Linsys wireless-N broadband router but then I read the reviews and they were horrible. I need something of that sort but something that isn't known for being unreliable and dying.
I bought the Turtle Beach X41 Headset, and it is causing some problems with my wireless connection. Due to a number of reasons, it is not possible to directly hook up my 360 to my modem. So, if I bought a new router that can operate on a 802.11a frequency, would that help or not? My current router is a Linksys Wireless G, 2.4GHz, router. Microsoft has said that an 802.11a frequency router could fix problems with other wireless electronics. If it would help, which router should I buy? I've read a few reviews for the Linksys WGA54AG 802.11a, and everyone says it doesn't work good. Any suggestions on another brand
i tink with these you can do some thing

Wrt54g linksys problem

are you trying to set up the router for the first time ?
OR the router was working before and you are trying to add a new windows 7 computer to the network ?

If you are trying to set up the router for the first time then you can do it manually without the CD also.

If your router is already working and you want to add the computer to the network then you just need to connect to the network

My linksys router wrt54g worked well for last

if possible, can you go to the linksys support site and doenload a new firmware? then connect with an ethernet cable and update the firmware. If that does not help, it may be time to buy a new one.

Linksys Router doesn't work with new modem

It sure does. Cysco System (Linksys) routers had a series of defective consumer hardware products like the one you describe.

The update of the firmware usually resulted in total failure of the router. Since you described the proper access and programming procedure of your router, I can tell you that it will be necessary to procure an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) for your (defective) router.

I have had many instances of the situation you describe, and, unfortunately, you will have to ship the router to the factory for replacement (providing it is still under warranty).

Bought linksy modem because of provider now wireless dont work

Hi Guys,

What needs to be defined first is the reason as to why it had stopped working. Before a suggestion is made, we first need to find out what the model number of your router is (there are many version of the linksys wrt54g router). Once that is defined i suggest you reset your router by doing the instructions as per this web page (cop and paste in your browser): http://technicallyeasy.net/2008/01/how-to-reset-linksys-wrt54g-wireless/

Once you have done that, the router should be set to factory default leaving you with a fresh clean slate. You can then proceed to configure the router for wireless security (if you need it) by following the steps here: http://technicallyeasy.net/2007/09/securing-linksys-wrt54g-wireless-router/

The instructions on these pages should help, however, if you face any uncertainties, please do feel free to get back to me and i shall attempt to cover whatever i can do to help the both of you out. Thank you.

Regards,

Technomancer.

Driver

Hi foreylexy,

You actually don't need to install a driver for a router. The discs that the manufacture provide are actually just run a program to guide you through the initial setup. I'm using a router right now and I've never had to install a driver. If however, you are talk about the wireless adapters for use with the WRT54G access point router - then that's a different mater.

To access you router just plug an Ethernet cable into it and your PC. Then open a browser and type 192.168.1.1. This is the default IP address, unless you've changed it. The default login and password are both admin. You should now be able to make any changes you need.

Regards,

Spare head 2.
