Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Washer no start no error codes

I am certain if your washer will not start and appears for no reason it shouldn't. it is your door latch. Look inside the door on the machine and find the spring loaded switch. It is likely black and has worn away to nothing. place a toothpick inside to push it in or similar screw size. when you close the door the switch will be out enough to activate.

Good luck

Fridgidaire frontloader washer stuck on pause

Hello Angela Gilmer - Usually when "PAU" displays on the screens, it indicates that the unit thinks that the door is not securely latch when you started the cycle, or the cycle has been interrupted. Try pressing "PAUSE/CANCEL" or "START/PAUSE" once to resume washer. If proves to be ineffective, try reprogramming the unit by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. If fault reoccurs, then it typically means that the unit has a faulty door latch. If you aren't certain that the door is properly shut, then the latch assembly may need replacing. Contact a professional to assist with the repairs.

My Kenmore Elite HE3 front loading washer won't lock and I press the start button but won't start. Please help! My washer won't start! The washing cycle light just flashes, and when you press and hold

Look at the door latch hole on the washer where the door latch clicks in. See the warning sticker above it? Above that there should be a plastic spring loaded switch. I cant tell but looking at it in the video it looks like it has broke off? If it is then you need a new latch assembly. If its not you may have a bad switch? Still new latch assembly. I cant be certain without being there but this is my guess.

How can i take the front off the washer to replace the door latch ?

You shouldn't have to take the front door or panel off to fix the door latch. You should have part on the door and part on the inside panel of the machine.

My washer door will not open its a wd645 model i cant find the lever when i took lid off

Hi.

The door latch is probably broken. Emergency opening can be done accessing the door latch from the inside of the washer assembly.

Before attempting an emergency opening, disconnect power cord and empty water inside the machine through the filter located at the bottom front side of the machine.

After removing water connect back the machine and try opening again.

If that does not work, then the machine must be disassembled. Most models have an emergency cable located on the inside of the door latch. Pulling the cable will release the latch.
The inside of the door latch is reached either from filter housing or from top of the machine. Either the filter (usually held by screws) or the top panel must be removed to access the inside of the lock mechanism.
Power must be kept off while doing maintenance. Due to the safety issues involved the door latch emergency opening and repair must be done by a trained technician.

Regards.

I was washing beach towels and during the rinse/spin cycle the door popped open on my whirlpool duet ht (model GHW9400PL4). I haven't been able to close the door since it opened before the cycle was...

those have a 2 latch system, sounds like the second latch that engages during the spin cycle never quite completed the safety lock , you could try and jumper the latch to see if that would release it, But it seems the secondary latch wasn't working properly in the first place, even the heaviest loads shouldn't pop the door open,

My kenmore elite washing machine has all the lights on but will not pause or start or anything with or without the door closed. should I just unplug the washing machine and plug it back in like a computer?

couldn't hurt to try it! could be the safety interlock that latches the door. on mine, there's a certain 'grace' period that allows adding more clothing before the water reaches a certain level. then the latch locks! stays locked until the load is done. mine's a fridgidaire. so, different.
Good luck!

Panel will not unlock

The lock/latch has likely failed.

This advice is for Kenmore Elite and Whirlpool Duet model front loading washers. If you experience a problem where the door becomes jammed and will not unlock or open, here's an easy way to gain access inside your washer WITHOUT calling the repairman.

1. Remove the lower panel under the door by loosening the three screws under the bottom edge on the front of the washer. HINT: If you prop up the front feet of the washer with some small blocks of wood, this will make access to the screws much easier.
2. With the screws removed, the lower panel should drop down then come off. If the panel sticks, a light tap on either side will knock it loose.
3. Reach your hand up inside the washer behind the front casing on the right-hand side. This is where the door latch assembly is located.
4. At the bottom of the door latch assembly is a small pull tab. This is the manual release for the door. Pull the tab straight down and the door will come open.

Sometimes these doors will not unlock for whatever reason. If there are no error codes being generated, this could have just been a momentary glitch. If you see "Fdl" or "Fdu" error codes, these are usually indications of a failed door latch assembly and will require replacement.
