Check if the drain hose is blocked. Check the wires aren't loose on the drain pump. If all that's ok you will need to replace the drain pump.

I suspect the pump or outlet hose is partially blocked, is it emptying in normal time with a normal outlet flow? (You can check that by watching the water come out if you can see the drain). Does the flashing light have a label on it, the lights on miele are generally labelled.
When you say it starts intermittently do you mean you have to start it more than once to be successful? That again would point to a pump or outlet hose blockage as it has to purge any water before starting.
Difficult to diagnose without more clues.
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply.

hi,

this is a general fault light which could mean anything without a Miele Technician coming out and connecting a
laptop to the unit. However most common faults with dishwashers is a drain fault. Check for any kinked hoses and check the drain spigot under the sink where the drain hose connects into the u bend. Usually this is where food gets trapped due to the spigot not being drilled out large enough. This then causes a blockage. Also check the non return valve under the filter and make sure the drain pump can turn freely. See what part of the cycle the unit lights up the fault. If it happens at the very start it is the drain. If it drains ok then fails it is the inlet. If it fails after that it could be any number of things.
Hope this helps.

Outlet/inlet light flashing on miele dishwasher G674SC

Usually indicates a intake or drain fault - could be a plugged drain line at the garbage disposal or insufficient water coming into the unit

Inlet blockage red light flashing

Try turning the machine on its side, undo the bottom and check that the polystyrene float (attached to a switch) is not somehow jammed. This float cuts off the water if the machine leaks internally, and produces the symptoms you describe. It's a really good machine so don't throw it away!!

If that still doesn't help then it might also be the motor brushes, which produce similar symptoms - if your machine starts to fill but then flashes and just drains again, it's almost certainly the brushes. This might be the case after you check the float problem.
