Question about Philips 26PF9946 26 in. LCD Television
Firts sight of a problem was when the screen displayed a single black line across horizontally, about one third up the screen. Then it got wosre and the picture blacked out then went white then all the colours of the rainbow started to appear. it was nice to watch as the full spectrum of colours constantly blended and changed but obviously not a good scenario. The set is just over 3 yers old no other probems up to now. Any ideas on what is causing it and is it repairable ? thanks JC2
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

It sound like to me that one of the boards that power the bad side of the screen is getting hot and quitting. The boards are not too expensive to replace but getting them is generally the big problem. ( At least for our company). The set would be worth tkaing to a local shop and have it looked at, but replacement costs are going down every day it seems.
I hope in some way this has helped

You plasma still under manufacturers warranty. Most electronic devices have one year warranty.
The failure in your TV can only be corrected by repairing it.
I would suggest to call philips and ask them to find you an authorized repair center near you to get your TV fix under their warranty.

Bring up the menu and if the lines are not on the menu replace the small signal board that is your video prossor. If the lines are still the replace the Y main board that contrl the top half of the screen.

I would first check if there is an available firmware upgrade for your model .Upgrade requires you to download firmware from philips website. Then transfer it to a memory stick .Then use a memory stick reader to plug into tv for firmware upgrade.Other wise the set would probably need repair .Possible a bad SSB board or another issue
