This is usually a sign that your computer was incorrectly shutdown or it lost power. You may be able to choose "Start windows normally" and hopefully everything should be ok!
Otherwise , your windows installation is corrupted. You may be able to run the "Startup Repair" option by choosing the "Repair My Computer" option which you are presented with.
If that doesn't work you will have to reinstall Windows and start from scratch. You will lose all the data on the computer doing this unless you take it to a computer shop where they will be able to recover your data before reinstalling Windows.
Your system has been corrupted and you will need to either restore the system or install the operating system again. Please see your owners manual and I would attempt to re-install or just install Windows again. Best of it.
if you go to the acer website there are a set of updated vista drivers install these and it sorts the display out.i have updated to windows 7 today downloaded all the vista drivers everything is fine except i am having problems with the soundcard any help on that would be appreciated
There should be more than one disk, as the other will be drivers, all you need to do is press F2 or Del to get into your pc's bios settings and change the first boot device to your cd drive, insert your acer disc into the drive, then save the bios settings, restart the pc ,then, when prompted on screen to press enter to boot from cd; do so.
You should then follow instructions to set up windows on the 'C' drive as is default and it may need to reformat in NTFS.
