hi,
1. Some hardware malfunction also leds to show msg of missing or corrupt windows file. So, try to remove any new hardware fixed and give a restart.

or

2. Try to upgrade the XP through the XPinstallation CD. If it is not possible then Reboot the system by formating the C:\ drive.

or

3. A problem in hard disk could be the reason. Better change it.

enjoy.

Hi

Use the OPERATING SYSTEM CD/DVD to run the REPAIR MODE.

REPAIRING THE OPERATING SYSTEM just load or install corrupted or missing files from your operating system thus will not delete any of your files from your computer.

Please rate and make a comment if you find this solution very helpful and might help others as well. Post more comments if you need more help.

Regards and thank you for using Fixya !

NTLDR is missing is displayed when i turn on the computer

The "NTLDR is missing", error displays very shortly after the computer is first started; after the Power On Self Test (POST) is complete. Windows XP might only initially load when the NTLDR error message appears. Causes of this error message include corrupt and misconfigured files, hard drive and operating system upgrade issues, corrupt hard drive sectors, an outdated BIOS, and damaged or loose IDE cables.

File missing. Cannot load OS. Is tehre anyway run windows again without formating?

hi dhiraj ,
if the OS OEM is corrupt options for u will be-
1. Download the dics from other pc & burn the disc in a bootable format & use it .The link to download is- http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4418117/Windows_XP_Home_SP3_-_Bootable_ISO

2 .Buy the other copy

I recommend u to download the OS as its cost efficient& fully functional

Not much can be done if the disc is corrupt .

Os booting problem

Try running the repair console from the CD.. fixboot, Fixmbr, And chkdsk /p may repair the missing or corrupt file other wise you can replace/install the missing file with another good working system and put the drive in an external enclosure.
Good luck!

NTLDR missing

Without a windows xp cd you are left with only 1 option. If you have a different machine which is connected to Internet or has windows xp installed, you can download the boot files from the net or copy the boot files located on the root of C drive (ntldr, boot.ini) onto a pen / floppy drive. then change the boot order in the bios to boot from the pen drive. It should work if you have the similar partioning scheme of the source computer. If booting is successful, u can copy those boot files to your computer's C drive.

Let me know what happens.

Gigabyte motherboard cd

You do not not need your motherboard CD to preform a format on your drive. Any windows CD. Win XP home, XP Pro, Win 2000 will format your hard drive. You can also use the hard drive's Mfg's utility disks & creat a bootable floppy disk or creat a bootable CDROM disk that will not only allow you to format the hard drive but also fun testing on the drive. You can even pick your cluster size & FAT file. Write down the name of your drive & model no#. Go to the Mfg's web site & download the utility software. Chances are Windows will have most of your boards drivers in it's data base. All you'll need to do is download from Gigabyte your missing drivers. You'll need you complete model no# & version no# if you can find it.

Hi,
Try Scanning your Computer For Computer Viruses.
then re-install Windows XP.
Your files will remain intact, if you select to leave the hard-drive As it is ( rather Than Format it ) or setup on a different Partition.
Backup your Valuable Docs/Files First.
Windows re-installation will replace any Missing-deleted Corrupt Files.
hope This Helps you.
