Question about Fisher and Paykel GWL11 Top Load Washer

2 Answers

My Fisher and Paykel washer stops and beeps every time I use it EXCEPT when using it in the Permament Press mode, then it works fine. When not in Permament Press mode it gets "stuck" at the second light in the wash cycle and just beeps continuously. I shut it off, restart and set it to start at the third light and it is fine for the rest of the cycle. Any ideas on what is wrong?

Nothing is flashing. But here is what I see...

    Light one OFF.

    Light two OFF.

    Light three ON.

    Light four ON.

    Light five OFF.

    Light six OFF.

    Light seven ON.

    Light eight ON.

When the machine is beeping, it is a continuous, regular beeping.

    Hope this helps.

    The model number is GWL15.

Also, the machine works fine if in the preset "permanent press" mode. Any other wash mode and it will beep for me...

My machine is an ECO model.

When I select heavy duty with a cold water fill and low water level, I do get the same beeping. This time lights 3,4,7 and 8 were lit (not flashing).

Also, when I use the automatic preset Permanent Press mode the water temps are set to wam and cold. I assume this means a warm water wash and cold water rinse?

I am still having my problem and have no answers. The machine works perfectly when in the preset Permanent Press mode, any other setting and it stops and beeps during the same part of the cycle every time... Help!

Lay the machine on its front and check the diverter valve for any debris that might be preventing it to work properly. The diverter valve is where the drain pump and the recirculation pump hoses are attached to.

Hi just read your posting. Now what water temp are you selecting for the wash cycle,is it cold, hot or warm? When your machine beeps continuously it will light up a series of lights as an error code. These lights will be in a row of 8 lights.Starting from the left to right which lights are on when the machine is beeping,Is it the 2nd and 4th or the 3rd and 6th ---etc---?Please reply with additional information on the questions and I am sure I can help you rectify this fault.Looking forward to your reply.

Hi Hanna just read your last posting.Sorry to ask you these questions but the error code you indicated in your posting could be 2 different faults depending on the model number of your machine. To accurately diagnose the fault in your machine I need the model number which is located on a sticker at the back of the machine top left. Please reply with this information and I am sure I can help you rectify this fault.Looking forward to your reply.

Hi Hannan, just read your last posting. Now the error code you have indicated is called DIVERTER VALVE FAULT. This fault only is present in ECO models of FISHER@PAYKEL washing machines. If your machine is not an ECO model then the fault will be the hot valve in your machine.Try selecting heavy duty and cold water fill and low water level and put a few bits of clothing into the machine and then push start. Please reply if the machine fills and starts to wash. Also could you tell me when you push the PERMANENT PRESS button what the water temp selection is.Is it warm , cold , or hot.Looking forward to your reply.

Check the pipes actually work first. Is there a hidden drain filter that is partially blocked? Dissasemble the pump and check it works and the blades inside are clean.

Washing machine has packed a sad

The problem is definitely in the lid switch. Your machine has a reed switch which is located under the hob on the right side of the tub. There is a magnet built into the lid which activates the reed switch when the lid is closed. You will need to replace the reed switch and harness.
