Question about Zoom A2 Acoustic Effects Pedal

1 Answer

I have a Zoom 9000 Guitar effects processor, and although I have its original adapter, and although its red light flashes and power is on after plugging in everything, I could not get any sound from my guitar! I live in Istanbul/Turkey, and I bought this pedal back in 1994... As much as I recall, the dealer sold me an additional adapter (which I lost) to make Zoom 9000 work... But the original adapter also seems to work, however I couldn't get any sound out of my guitar... Does this have anything to do with power supply voltage in different countries? thanx for your help in advance.

I'm a Zoom 9000 owner (since '93, I think) Did you try batteries only? Are you plugging the guitar into the "in / power" jack and not mistakenly using another jack? When you plug in the guitar, in to the Zoom 9000 does the window come on with the settings shown? Sorry, I know some of these are obvious but always the chance of us being human. If all that seems fine, then I would read though a manual to see if maybe it is a setting problem, i.e., sound somehow got inadvertently turned off. If you don't have one, an internet search will lead you to one. Sorry, wish I knew more.

How can I mix the sound of the Zoom A2 and the dry sound of the guitar?

the easiest way to mix less effect sound and more natural guitar sound is to reduce the level of the individual effects within the patch selected. The more challenging method would be to go through a splitter box 1st, or any stereo effects box, to split the signal, and then you will have 2 outputs, one dry, one through the Zoom. The 3rd (and simplest ) method would be to place the Zoom in the effects loop of an amp that features a send / return balance adjustment.

It blinks with "be" and turns off

It may be "but" that you're seeing, which indicates the batteries are low. Use the AC adapter made just for this model only, and the guitar needs to be plugged in to turn the unit on. A full manual for this Zoom model can be found here:

G1x zoom guitar effects no power even using an adaptor

if you're using an adaptor other than the original zoom, make sure it's 300mA or more and try switching the polarity.

Hi.why my zoom g1x has no power.im using a universal adator...i am in phillpines.power volts here..220 volts.how is the setting of my adaptor then?

I have a ZOOM GX1XN and it doesn't like universal adapters much. Using one with the wrong voltage or polarity may permanently damage your pedal. Try to obtain a proper ZOOM AC adapter (part number AD-0006 or AD-16) if possible. These are dual voltage and will work equally well with both 220 and 110 volts. Failing that you need an adapter that will give a DC (direct current) output of 9 volts at 0.5amps - maximum 4.5 watts. The outer contact (sleeve) of the adapter needs to be positive (+ve) and the inside contact negative (-ve). Lots of universal adapters are the other way around with the sleeve being negative - but some have a multi-connector on the end with both positive and negative sleeves.

No power

There is a possibility that the receptacle for the adapter plug has one or more broken solder joints on the circuit board.
