Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

2 Answers

Recently, when I print a doc, I'm getting black vertical line about 2 in, in from right side of paper & about one in. in from left side. I put in new cartridge (thinking it might be that) and ran that blue lever back and forth (I guess to spread toner evenly thruout), but still getting black lines. Any help?

Thx to person who responded to say "shake cartridge". Had tried that repeatedly (but did again) & it didn't work. Same lines.

Please, I need more info. What is the model of your printer? What if you print from Notepad or other programs? Hope you can let me know with more details. Thanks

Ok.. thanks, but I have to ask you few more queries, please don't mind, as you didn't mention the Model in your question, I didn't realize it was MFC, so now I will as you.. What if you make copies? I would assume same result/print-out with the black line.

First of, remove the Drum unit and inspect very carefully, probably the wasted toner is leaking or is overflown, if so you need to disassemble the drum unit and clear the toner out of the Drum. This is very common and could be fixed if you know how to hmmm.. at least disassemble the unit. You can also clean the Drum maintenance kit (Rod) with a feather.

Another possibility remove the papers from the tray/s, the drum, cartridge and the fuser unit, now turn off the machine and blow through the passage from the front tray with a Blower or with a strong air can, if there's leftover or splattered toner inside the passage, the similar print result may happen.

Check the cartridge and make sure it's not leaking..

The fuser unit, remove the fuser and clean the whole components properly using a soft brush or a with a cloth (don't use cotton swaps or cotton balls).

Warning, be careful while doing all these, you may damage the component/s if handled without care. Don't ever touch the drum or the fuser maintenance kit with your hand, always use a glove or something similar.

Let me know if you don't see any better result.

    Good luck.

    Thanks for using FixYa.

Why do my pictures have tiny black lines running vertically thru them when I print pictures?

Ran into this problem myself on a few inkjet models. Check to ensure you've programmed the unit for the type of paper (matte, photo, glossy, etc.) and that your paper matches your machine (most inkjets won't print correctly on laser photo paper). If those are OK, try cleaning your rollers - many newer units have an auto-clean setting. If that doesn't work try this: Unplug your printer. Turning it off is NOT the same thing since many units have a form of stand-by to decrease warm-up time, much like TVs. Take an old, soft T-shirt or other lintless absorbent cloth & dampen it slightly. Hopefully the cartridge holders are off to the side so you can see where the paper feeds through. Gently rub the rollers, changing areas of cloth as they become ink-soaked until they're clean. To check if clean: turn unit back on & put a clean sheet of paper on the glass to copy. I use stick glue (for kids) to put 2 regular pieces of paper together (mimics thickness of photo paper) & use this for the machine to print out my (hopefully) blank page.

Oh, and I wear vinyl gloves to keep my hands from getting stained anytime I work with printer ink. (My doc always gives me a few pair free whenever I come in). Good luck!

My Brother MFC-7420 Printer always prints black lines and splotches down the left side of my paper. This happens whether I'm scanning or printing from my PC. When I looked at my drum, it appears a

If you are seeing vertical streaks/black lines your primary corona wire is dirty and or the fax scanner may be dirty.
1)To clean the corona wire you take the drum unit and toner cartridge and place it on disposable paper to avoid spilling.
2) Clean the primary corona wire inside the drum unit by sliding the blue tab from right to left several times.
3) Return the blue tab and snap it into the home position.
4) Reinstall the drum unit and toner cartridge.
5) Close the front cover.
Caution: if you do not return the blue tab to the home position it may repeat the black lines.

My Ricoh Aficio CL2000N is printing several faint lines

Couple possibilities:
Fuser hot belt has wear lines transfering to the page
Black pcu needs to be replaced
Transfer unit is not being cleaned properly and needs to be replaced.
Remove each of these assy and inspect them for wear or lines that corespond to the lines on your prints.

Epson 9800 Prints black dotted vertical line

This is a workaround - I too need a definitive answer. Symptom: black dotted vertical line 1/2 to 3/4" from leftmost image edge. I have begun adding single vertical line to my prints .25" from the left edge of the paper to force the "dots" off my print - this seems to have the desired affect, but it does not answer the cause or provide a true remedy (it will save many of your prints while we wait for complete solution). dkh
