Have you tried the button on the handle that looks like a brush beside the power button?

Mine did it as well, press the button and it will start spinning. You might have to press it a few times to get it to stay spinning

My dyson dc25 has reduced suction at the base, suction is fine at the wand

This is a guess but I have experienced it on other vacuum cleaners I have owned.

Check the hose that connects the at the base for breaks. Not just the easy to disconnect one connected to the wand, the one that goes into the head, if you are sure there are no blocks I can only imagine this being a possibility

dyson does offer a 5 year warranty if you have not past this age it might be worth sending out.
Stinks having issues with such expensive devices.

How do I fix a wand that won't fully retract and sticks out of the bottom causing me to loose scuction?

Hello Collet .

First I would check the hose at the bottom of the machine to see if its blocked , then I would take off the pipe at the base of the machine and then push a pole through it to clear any blockage also take the wand out completely this should solve the problem.

also goggle the make of the dyson vac and get an exploded view of the parts and you'll see how they fir and can then be replaced or new parts bought etc

hope this is of assistance

DC25 no suction at head?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.
I'm not sure from your question how you're testing the suction at the cleaner head. For safety reasons we'd strongly advise against placing a hand underneath the cleaner head. This is not a good way of testing suction - the soleplate needs to form a close seal with the floor surface for high pick up. It's normal for the suction to feel stronger through the wand and through the cleaner head inlet as the suction is concentrated over a much smaller area.
If you place the cleaner head on a sheet of newspaper, then run the machine with the brush bar turned off, you should see the newspaper sticks to the cleaner head, as it's able to seal with the soleplate.
You might also like to take a look at our online Support guide, to make sure there's nothing blocking the machine which you may have missed: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc25/dc25-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/check-suction

Suction disappears when the tube is lifted from the machine to attach the tools

Hi Pam,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC25. If there doesn't seem to be much suction from the wand, there may be a blockage in the wand or hose. To check for this, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:

This should resolve the issue, but if you're unable to find any blockages but continue to experience difficulties, please get in touch with us directly so we can provide further assistance. You can call us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

There is no suction when using the wand on DC25

After hours of investigation, I have found the root of the suction problem for anyone having the same problems. If you take the hoses off the change valve that switches between hose and brush bar. You will see that the change over is done by a flimsy piece of plastic that doesn't actually create a seal with either ports. In fact mine had a 2/3mm gap. Its disgraceful that it left the factory this way, they should have been recalled and replaced!

I wonder what Mr Dyson would say about this icon_e_smile.gif.

Let me know if your is the same and Ill tell you how I partially fixed it to get atleast 200% better suction!

My Dyson absolute vaccume has no suction. I have cleaned the filters, visually checked all of the hoses. there is no suction from the floor brush or the wand.

Check the ducting that goes from the floor pick-up into the machine, fluff etc often clogs the elbow. Check the pipe that plugs into the floor pick-up as well, it could be clogged further up.
