Question about Goodman Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I have a goodman gmp150-5, and the heat runs for a little while, then shuts off and the blower continues on.. I check the control board and it says 4 blinks OPEN HIGH LIMIT, but when the flame goes off, cold air comes out of the vents.. then eventually it starts up again and repeats the cycle. I think it may be lack of ventillation.. Anyway to remedy that?

check your themostat fan mode switch to see if it in on or auto. It should be in auto. If this does not stop indoor fan motor, (it may take up to 2 minutes for the fan to stop, preprogrammed shutoff in the thermostat and fan control cards may make you think the fan has not stopped ) If this does not stop the fan the fan control board in your air handler has a green wire shorting to 24 volt signal in the theromostat wire or the contact on the blower control card is stuck and will need replaced.

Witch blower is running, the inducer or the systems blower?
System blower could mean the the high limit is opening and shutting down the systems gas train, I would check this out first.

The other problem could be with the pressure switch for the gas train, it is supplied from the inducer motor, check to see if it is operating fully.

HSI boards do go from time to time, this sounds more like a system control problem.

I have a Goodman GMH950904CXAC. Thermostat calls for heat. It comes on and runs fine for about 5 minutes, then the circulator blower shuts off, but burners and draft blower still run. After another 15...

4 flashes is an overheat situation most likely caused by the blower not blowing. The blower relay controls the blower function. It is part of the circuit board. I suspect a new board will take care of the problem if you don't find a lose wire or something simple.

Keep in mind all furnaces and circuit boards are not the same. Look on the back of the door to the blower compartment. You should find the list of diagnostic codes. Look up four blinks it should narrow down the problem. Although from the discription you gave it sounds lie the high limit control. When a high limit appears to be acting up it DOES NOT mean that the high limit needs replaced. The high limit just may be doing its job. This means that the furnace is overheating. Check your filters. Are all of your registers open? Is your blower set on the right speed? Is your blower going bad? Is the blower motor capacitor bad? Is your evaporator coil restricted? Just changing a high limit switch does not always solve the original problem!
Good luck....

Goodman a/c blower fan will not shut off

Unhook the thermostat wires on the furnace. If the blower shuts off then your problem is either the thermostat or the thermostat wires. If it contiues to run check you high limit switches next. If all else fails you most likely have a bad blower relay. On most modern furnaces the blower relay is part of the circuit board.
Good luck

BLOWER CONTINUES TO BLOW COLD AIR AFTER REACHING DESIRED TEMP.

There is a little switch on the circuit board. Look closely at the wiring diagram and it will indicate which switch to adjust. If not, review the operating manual for details.

A constant red light (not blinking) indicates that the thermostat is not calling for heat. Of course you know it is but just to be safe, jump out R and W on the board. If it continues to do the same as you indicated, replace the board.
