SanDisk 4 GB SDHC card won't work in any of my devices

Have just returned my first such card, and replaced it with a second.  Neither works in my new Blackberry 8830 (the phone simply ignores it, and says in the media card section that "A media card is not installed".  When I put the first card in the phone, it at least recognized its presence, but said there was some error with it, and subsequently ignored it.)  I have put it in the adapter, and put it into the SD slot on my HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop, and it likewise completely ignores the microSD card (but works fine with my other SanDisk regular SD cards).  I cannot understand what the problem is!!  Any suggestions?

Hi, Just tried to download my pictures from my Sandisk card on to my PC but the computer doesn't recognise it, I've also tried to put them on to my printer as it has a slot for a SD card but the printer screen just says Memory Card Error.

    Any ideas?

Likewise. The 8830 is compatible with the 4GB SDHC card (according to RIM). I have formatted the card (through PC - as my 8830 does not recognize its existence - although I did have to d/l a patch from microsoft before my PC would recognize it) to no avail.

I was having the same problem. It seems that older card readers (2008 and earlier) won't recognize SD cards larger than 2GB. You should first check with your PC mfg., or the card reader mfg. web site to see if there are any firmware or driver updates. If so, update the firmware and drivers and try it again. In my case it worked! Your Blackberry may need a firmware or driver update as well.

Good luck!

Same problem here with my HP Pavillion dv6200....and the solution

Navigate to the "computer management" (right click your computer icon & select "manage")

Look under disk management under the storage management feature. Scroll down and check to see if the computer is picking up the card. With my situation, it does and all I have to do is double click it.

I don't know why this happens though....

Will a sandisk 4gb sdhc card work in a dx7590 easy share

The DX7590 works with MMC and SD cards, which max out at 2GB. It will not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.

I have a SanDisk SDHC Card class 4 4 gb and it won't work in my Canon Power shot SD630, I get a memory error that says card is locked, however card is not locked, what camera canI use this card in?

The SD630 works with MMC and SD cards, 2GB or smaller. It does not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.

Your SDHC card can be used in any camera that accepts SDHC cards.

New sandisk 8 gb sd card reports memory error when inserted in camera. other cards work in camera. card is recognized by laptop. tried reformatting by Vista

There are no 8GB SD cards. Cards this size are SDHC (High Capacity). SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but many cameras won't work with the SDHC cards. SDHC is not backwards compatible.

Installed a Sandisk 4 GB memory card and camera says "CARD ERROR". What gives?

The A402 is designed to work with SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card. While SDHC cards will fit into SD devices, they will not work. You'll have to stay with SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Just got a SanDisk 4gb SDHC card. Put it in my camera took some pics and my card reader doesn't work with it. Works with other cards (not SanDisks) The only way it will work is if I plug my USB cable...

Upgrade your card reader.

SDHC cards are a very different animal under the skin to a standard SD card and so they're not back compatible with plain SD card readers (although SD cards can be used in SDHC devices).

Camera works with standard SD memory card, but not SDHC

There are hardware incompatibilities between SD and SDHC cards. They're upward compatible in that SDHC devices will accept SD cards but not the other way around. You will have to hunt down SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Is lumix dmc-fx33 compatible with sandisk ultraII 8gb sdhc cards?

No, 8 GB is too large. According to page 5 of the manual, 4 GB is maximum:

•When the term card is used in these
operating instructions this refers to the
following types of Memory Cards.
– SD Memory Card (8 MB to 2 GB)
– SDHC Memory Card (4 GB)
–MultiMediaCard (still pictures only)
More specific information about memory
cards that can be used with this unit.
• You can only use an SDHC Memory Card
if using cards with 4 GB or more capacity.
• A 4 GB Memory Card without an SDHC
logo is not based on the SD Standard and
will not work in this product.

The manual can be had below:

4 GB doesnt work

I believe this camera only supports SD/MMC cards, not SDHC cards. Go to the kodak site to see the detailed specs. Not all devices support SDHC - most new ones do - but some only support the older SD cards.

Canon FS200 won't fully initialize 16 GB SDHC card

I have the same problem with my Canon Vixia HF R20 and I'm using a Lexar Pro 64Gb 133x SDXC card. When I try to initialize the card, its fails and says Process Terminated. The write-protect is off. The older class 4 SDHC card I've tried seems to work ok, which is a SanDisk 4Gb.
