Question about HP Pavilion dv8000z Notebook

1 Answer

Audio Problems Yesterday, my audio was working fine. However, today, it didnt work for some reason. It doesn't play any music or anything. My Mute button located on the volume control panels above the keyboard doesn't even work and there is no volume icon in the bottom right of my screen.I didn't change the software r do anything to my laptop except running a virus scanner. I contacted the HP Support, and they couldn't find a way to fix it. They gave me drivers to install, but everytime I installed the programs, it would say "Driver Installation Failed: Could not find the MEDIA device for this driver." I can't play music on Windows Media Player. Even when I go onto control panels, and Sounds and Audio Devices, it says that "There is no Audio Device", yet there is still audio hardware still on my laptop. Can anyone fix this problem please? Thanks for your time!

I have experienced the exact problem as JDangtran just a few days ago.

The timing either means that some conflict exists with software updates
for windows or the HP engineered this board to last for two years max.

My device manager tells me there is no audio device. Diagnostics are
no help. An independent IT tech tells me that the sound card is probably
part of the motherboard and that I might as well get a new machine rather
than spend the money to replace it.

I hope anyone planning to get an HP product understands it will only
a couple of years at the most before serious problems appear.

I using conexant hd idio inputand output device. I record my sound but after play back i cannot heard sound

If you cannot hear the sound you have recorded. Make sure that the sound you record generates the visual pattern. This confirms that at least your microphone is working.
  • In any of the upper case your audio driver must be install and your audio hardware must be in working order. You can check this in Windows Device Manager. To go to device manager you right click "My Computer" in XP and In Windows Vista and Windows 7 its "Computer. After right clicking it select Manage and on the left pane select the Device Manager and you will see the list of devices and their installed drivers. Make sure all the audio devices and there drivers are not showing any errors.
  • Make sure that you speakers are not mute. If you take a look at the bottom right corner of your computer screen you will see a speaker icon.make sure there is no "X" or any other RED signs on them which represents mute states.
  • Similarly check other related settings. Go control panel after going to the start menu and look for the "Sound" icon and make sure there is not anything suspicious.
  • If all the above is fine and okay than look for any problems in your speakers that are open or if you are wearing them as Headphones or earphones and try to replace them to test them. Maybe the sound is coming but the speakers might be faulty make sure you increase the volume of the speakers when you hear any recordings.
  • Make sure the speakers are okay by listening to music or movie that you might get free from internet or in Disk collections. This is the way you can easily detect the problem.
  • If you can hear sound from music and movies than your microphone hardware might be faulty.
Good Luck!

first of all change the play back set from head phone in the audio tab and see if there is mute option on on the speakers symbol on the system tray bottom right hand on the system if yes uncheck the mute

Aspire 5515 dvd wont play sound

Does the laptop play CDs?
If so then when you start a DVD and before you play the movie, go into the audio setting and configure the speakers for laptop stereo speakers.
If you cannot hear music from the CD then check :-
1. The audio settings, volume not set to minimum and mute is not ticked (enabled)
2. Device manager - sound device is enabled and working, if not re-install the sound driver.

No audio although device manager shows all audio is ok

first uninstall audio drivers from device manager.
then downlaod audio driver from here thewn check also check there is not any mute button enabled.
Play 1 mp3 files and if it gives error your drivers are not installed properly but if it plays then your driver is working fine so there should be mute or some hardware issue.
Downlaod audio driver from here if you need
