Question about Suunto T3C Heart Rate Monitor Black Wrist Watch

Open Question

I have a Suunto t3c. Recently the batteries in the watch were low (low battery indicator went on). I replaced the battery in the watch and in the belt. The watch would not pick up a heart rate. I then tried pairing the watch and the belt as per the instructions on a couple of websites (battery out of belt, short the contacts, watch to HR mode, from the menu choose pair pod, watch displays the turn on pod message, battery back into belt, rub the electrodes of the belt.) The watch never picks up the belt and never pairs. Any suggestions of what to try next? Perhaps reseting the watch but I don't know how to do that. Is there a way to tell if the belt is working if I don't have another watch? Thanks.

SOURCE: heart rate zones

Heart rates are known by the garmin software as zones, numeroted 1 up to 9.
You can set on the software your heart rate, based on :
- HR max ;
- intermediate HR, linked to the zones.
Then, when you upload a session in the software, you will analyze the zones you ran in.

Another tip : to set on the Garmin itself, the Zones to ON,then Z0 to ON, and Z0 HRM to ON : here you can indicate your HRM low (ex : 165 for me) and the HRM High (185 for example). Then during your session, an up or down arrow will appear, indicate if you run below your HRM low (aerobic zone), your anaerobic zone (betwin HRM Low and High) or in VO2 max.

Hoping that's clear and that can help you.

Make sure the back of the watch is spotless and your skin isn't too dry.

I replaced the battery as I have many times imy 2005 suunto s6 watch, but this time the display remains blacked out...none of the buttons work or make any noise. The battery is a 2032 and is brand new.

Tough one but here goes. 1 New battery does not necessarily mean good battery 2 Determine the battery is inserted with the correct side up. 3 Is there a reset. Possibly a small hole that you poke a paper clip into. 4 Try holding all the buttons in at the same time for a couple seconds 5 Go see a watchmaker,
good luck

The ascent reading seems to be very inaccurate and the battery shows low after only a couple rides after installing a new battery. Anyone have a solution for the acent issue?

You need to send the watch into Suunto for service. The watch is obviously having an issue if it will not hold charge with a new battery and the Altimeter is not working correctly.

The Altimeters are Barometric pressure related and occasionally something goes wrong.

My experience is that Suunto is very good about fixing and/ or replacing when this issue arises.

If any battery operated watch starts losing time or displaying the incorrect time, this is usually indicative of a battery going bad and needing replacement. My Luminox 3100 started lagging in time and I noticed that the second hand would intermittently stop. I also have a Suunto Vector (Digital) wrist-top computer and the times along with the compass, altimeter, light and alarms all started to act crazy and all it happened to be was the battery being run down. Coincidentally the Suunto has a battery gage that only appears and flashes during low battery charge.
BL: Try the simplest thing first, change your battery. Please be very careful not to break the O-ring on any watch that's waterproof/resistant as this will render the protection useless. Also if your watch is still under a manufacturer or vendor's additional warranty, get them to change it as not to void your warranty. 'Hope this helps!

Cannot open the battery compartment on my suunto x6 without breaking it....any ideas?

  • Turn the Suunto over to view the backside. Insert the quarter in the coin slot located on the battery compartment cover. Turn the coin counterclockwise to the "Open" position marked on the back of the case.
  • Remove the battery compartment cover. Remove the old battery from the battery compartment. Make sure the o-ring and all surfaces are clean, dry and not damaged. Do not stretch the o-ring!
  • Place the new battery into the battery compartment (negative side down, positive side up). Make sure the o-ring is in its place, as to keep the Suunto waterproof. Place the battery compartment cover back onto the backside of the watch.
  • Insert the quarter back into the coin slot and turn the coin clockwise to the "Close" position marked on the back of the case.

  • If this doesnt work take to a jeweler who has tools.

T6C failed after working OK for 1 day

Try re-pairing the belt pod with the wrist-watch computer. Below text comes from page 37 of the T6c users manual.

If you replace the belt battery or are having troubles with the signal reception, you need to re-pair your belt with your Suunto t6c.

    To re-pair the belt:
    1. Remove the belt battery
    2. Push the (new) battery into the compartment positive side down.
    3. In your Suunto t6c, enter the settings menu and enter GENERAL.
    4. Scroll to PAIR with [Lap +] and [Light -] and enter with [Mode].
    5. Scroll to HR BELT with [Lap +] and [Light -].
    6. Activate pairing with [Mode].
    7. Put the battery in with the positive side up and close the cover.
