1 Answer

Canon PIXMA iP6220D

HI,

Swithed on my printer and i got an "error 5100" i loaded the ink cartridge and the photo paper and it has the same error again. I seems easy to install the cartridge as illustrated in the manual by i'm having a hard time dinstalling it, i'm waiting for "click" sound as says in the instruction. I think i'm right placing the catrridges but it's kinda loose.

Please help me with this.

Thanks,

Erwin

The cartridge on the right side CL-52 (P) doesn't seem to fit the printer correctly...I can't seem to line up the grooves of the cartridge with the tracks on the printer. However, the cartridge on the left side CL-51 (Color) slides and clicks into position fine.

Hi You can Try
This post is old
Error Code 5100
Solution 1:
Clean the timing strip.

Solution 2:
The purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) may be not lubricated well enough .

Lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps); this repair probably require to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism.

Error 5100 error code

Hi You can Try 2 things.

ERROR 5100 means that there is some foreign object blocking your cartridges carriage that disables it from moving. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there

Next try.

It may be a piece of paper or a scotch tape or a staple wire.

CANON IP 1300 SERVICE ERROR 5100

ERROR 5100 means that there is some foreign object blocking your ink cartridge carriage that disables it from moving. It may be a piece of paper or a scotch tape or a staple wire. You may try cleaning also the encoder strip with a moist tissue paper. Furthermore, you may also try cleaning CAREFULLY the contact points of the cartridge holder and the cartridge itself (those shiny bronze pins) with a moist lint-free cloth.
