Mitsubishi VS-5006R picture Ghosting

When it first started to mess up it would go away after it got warmed up. It gradually got worse (of course). I tried to adjust the picture but the Horizontal blue won't go up far enought to sync with the red and the green, the red will move down to the blue but green doesn't adjust. Is it worth it?($$$) I have moderate electrical skills & a pretty decent soldering iron.

Since the problem corrected itself initially, it may just be poor solder connections. Try resoldering the pins on the convergence ICs. These are large black ICs attached to a heatsink and should be marked STKxxx. If resoldering does not resolve the problem, replace the ICs.

My tv mitsubishi vs-60705 looks great when i first turn it on after it warms up picture starts to shake and gets worse the longer its on. what is overheating to cause this ?

Sounds like you have a swollen cap in your horizontal hold circuit. Look at your board closely, and I am sure you will find one that is bulging on the top. Just replace with the same value.

For some reason it started to take a longer time to warm up...

This model has several caps. on the power supply voltages such as the 5v, 9v and 12 v lines that begin to dry out and open and such problems begin to manifest themselves. Most likely this problem will continue to get worse and worse. As far as burned in images there is nothing that can be done short of replaceing all three picture tube and that is very expensive and this unit is to old to consider a 1000.00 repair.

Picture has horizontal lines that move to middle of screen........

Just got this fixed. The problem is the 21 (yes, 21) main capacitors. It'll only get worse if they aren't replaced. The whole screen'll start jumping, multi-hour "warm up" times until you get a clear picture, maybe not even then... it isn't pretty. Just nip it in the bud now, and more power to you if you tackle it yourself. A good repair shop ought to be able to do this for under $400 if you can't.

Screen turning pink

If the pink overlay goes away gradually, you could have weak picture tubes (CRT's) If the color jumps in after warming up, it could be a bad solder connection. If you haven't had a good picture to watch for a long time, I would be tempted to put the money towards a new HDTV set as those older Mitsubishi Rear Projection TV's had a Lot of bad solder connections in the past, and by fixing one problem another could crop up in the near future.
