If some keys are not working check in safe mode whether they are working..
To get into safe mode keep pressing the F8 key on the keyboard while the system turns on in the Dell screen....
If the keyboard works in the safe modem then install a fresh copy of drivers for the keyboard(www.support.dell.com)..
If the keyboard is not working in the safe mode then call dell(18006249896) or a local tech and get the keyboard replaced...

Does the keyboard from the C640 work good in the C610? Also, have you tried an external keyboard? Does it work good?

SOURCE: keyboard problem

You just need a new keyboard - those are easy to come by check ebay.com and search for C640 keyboard. New ones should only be about $30-$40.

To remove the keyboard you just remove all the screws on the bottom of the laptop that are marked with the letter "K" then carefully pop the keyboard up.

Dell C840 no power is there is a fuse?

Hi

Thank you for your query

Please try the following

1) Ensure the fuse in the socket has not blown,
2) Try to obtain a replacement power lead to ensure the lead is not faulty

I would not recommend that you open the Laptop as only qualified engineer's should carry out this work

If this has been useful please leave postive feedback/vote/testimonial - Thank You Again

My laptop dell c840 charging status apears as idle i purchase 90w adapter and purchase 2new batries but still i am facing problem

It is more than likely the actual plug on the computer that you are plugging the adapter into. Very common issue with Dell portables and if youre still under the service warranty you will get a new computer. I worked for dell tech support for a few years and I dont think theyve changed that policy.

You could try running the diagnostics to see if there is an issue that it can detect, but it's not likely.

Tap the F4 key while the computer is starting and choose the option that says "Run Diagnostics" or "Boot to utility partition".

The Latitude you have most likely has the touchpad plus the dreaded pointing stick. The problem you are having is also known as "wandering cursor" where your cursor will move around the screen on it's own. Try these solutions:
1. Go to Dell.com and download the latest driver for your touchpad. In the touchpad properties, try to disable the pointing stick.
2. If all else fails, I have removed the keyboard and disconnected the cable for the pointing stick which always solves this problem. If you decide to take this approach, you should know your way around the inside of your laptop, take anti-static percautions, etc. You can download a service manual for your laptop from dell.com.

I am staring to think that your drivers are corrupted.
Try Dell first for downloads of drivers for this computer.
If this does not work come back to me and tell me which OS you are running.
I check normally every day to see the answers
