Screen locked on "Checking media"

My skyfi3 was unplugged from the car while the unit was still on. The screen froze on "Checking Media". It won't allow me to power it down or reboot it or anything.

I just received a brand new Delphi SkyFi3 from XM Radio and after connecting it, the first message on the screen was "Checking Media". I left it sit like that for about an hour, it appeared to be locked on that screen so I contacted XM. I'm not sure if they outsource their service to India but the Customer Service was lousy and all I was told multiple times was wait for 30 minutes and it will correct itself. I called XM Customer Service again this morning and they created a support ticket for me and said someone will call me within the next 24 hours. Thank you for the information on how to power off the unit because every button I pressed it would not do anything. I'm ready to cancel my long standing account and go back to the standard radio system.

My XM radio is frozen on the first message on the screen "Checking Media". I have tired to reset it and I have let the battery drain and still stuck. What do I do?

When the radio locks up on the Checking Media page you hold the + button to the volume and the MODE button wait for 3 seconds and it will turn off...  Thanks to Delphi for this assistance!!  Chris K.

Hold down the volume button while pressing the mode button will reset the device without having to wait for the battery to die.

Leaving the radio unplugged from the cradle overnight, the battery drained and turned the unit off. When I reconnected the radio to the cradle, it powered up correctly.

I have repeatedly used the standard reboot for Skyfi3 and it will not work. There is supposed to be another high reboot that can be done.. Does anyone know it? Tyhe unit will not get out of scanning media...

I downloaded the updated firmware, saved it to my computer. Hooked up the skyfi3 to the usb port and took the power cord from the home dock and plugged it directly in to the unit. Held down the volume up and mode button, then as soon as it got to the "scanning media" screen I hit the up arrow, then the down arrow, then the up arrow again. This got the unit running and I was able to upgrade the firmware. It took two or three times to work, but eventually worked like a charm.

How do I use a new MicroSD? Unit locks up when Checking Media

First of all, suggest using an SD card of 2GB or under. Second, firmware update. Here's the details: This is a common problem with SkyFi3 units. You have to press the Volume UP button and hold it while you press the POWER button; this will 'reboot' your radio, then you can try it again to get it to go off.
You will need to update your firmware on the radio using the baby USB cable and the unit plugged into your computer WITH the battery recharged FIRST. Also, go to the www. xmradio dot com website and download the SkyFi3 FIRMWARE update. Then you need to download the "firmware update" into your SkyFi3.
If this doesn't fix your lockup problem, you need to call DELPHI customer support, and they can tell you one more 'master reset' method. After the firmware update, it might take 2 or 3 'restarts'.

Again, press and hold the Volume UP and PWR at the same time to reset a 'locked-up' SkyFi3. Regards, John

Skyfi3 freezes up on checking media

common problem! Press the volume UP and the Power button at the same time and it will go off. Go to the Delphi/XM website and upload/download the latest FIRMWARE and upgrade it. Then, call the 800 phone number for Delphi and they will tell you a secret master reset you have to do once or twice, and it will cut down the number of lockups during checking media by quite a bit. Also, do not use a Micro SD card larger than 2MB as well. Good luck, and let me know how it goes for you.

I am getting a checking media message repeatedly. i did a soft reset by holding up volume and mode key. then a hard reset by touching up arrow then down arrow immedaitely after soft reset. unit still comes...

This is the unit from h**l. I had the same problem. First, make sure you have the latest FIRMWARE update loaded. Next, call Delphi tech support on the radio and they'll have you do the hard reset. Also, you cannot use more than a 2GB micro Memory Card. An 8GB will cause a media problem. Do you get the check media with no card in?

My unit starts up and just says at top "Checking Media" can not use any buttons, just frozen!

Take the sd card out, reboot by holding volume up and menu at the same time for 5 secs, wait for it to fully boot into the music, then put the sd card back in.

Delphi skyfi 3 freezes up.

What you need to do is simultaneously hold the VOLUME UP button as well as the MODE button. This will reset the unit. From what I read of your problem, you were simply holding the VOLUME plus MODE buttons.

My delphi xm is frozen

Hold the up volume button and the mode button at the same time. I have to do it almost every day. This is only a problem when using the car kit. No problem at all when using with portable kit or home kit.

My delphi xm is frozen

My radio was stuck on "scanning media" and the regular reset (volume up and Mode) did not work.
Nothing that I did, fixed it...
I called Delphi and they said...
(1) Put radio in it's cradle, press Volume UP/Mode buttons for 3 seconds until it resets.
(2)Then when the "scanning media" message appears press up arrow, down arrow, up arrow.

My delphi screen unlocked. I LOST everything that I had recorded, but that was fine with me.

I had to update the firmware and everything is working fine.

Losing all my recorded songs was much better than having to send in my radio!

Hopefully this will work for you!
Delphi was extremely helpful and very nice so don't be afraid to call them if this doesn't work!
