This depends on the model of the motherboard but you should find it near the main processor heat sink area or along the edges of the board.

Hope this helps.

What pins on motherboard are used for power on?

Depends on the motherboard. It's usually a group of pins along the lower right side of the board. But to know the exact area a correct pins to connect to. You'll need to get the motherboard model number. Which is usually printed on the board face somewhere. After you have a model number you could start looking for the pin diagram online. Not sure which is the model number. Enter the group's of numbers you find on the board into google images. When you see what looks like your motherboard, you've found your model number. Good luck

How to id motherboard

Most of the time the model number is printed on the board itself near the CPU or beside the RAM slots. If your model number is not there you can sometimes also find it on the back side of the board itself which requires you to take the board out of the PC entirely. Usually if this is the case the model number is printed on a sticker on the back of the Mobo

VT8237 is not a motherboard model number; it's the number of one of the chips used on the board. The motherboard model number is usually found printed on the board near the expansion card slots.

The ASUS website is That's the main page. From there you pick your country, and then select the download link from the top of the page you're sent to. You'll need to have the board model number, and once you get to the download page for your model you will find the drivers you need.

Driver problem

Every motherboard will have the model number of the board marked on the board. Some manufactures place the model number on a white sticker located on the side of a PCI slot. Others mark the board near the memory slots, & others will mark a white sticker with the model number on the side of an IDE port or LPT port. (All found on the motherboard it's self).
Older boards lack such markings & people look for some markings on the north bridge & south bridge chipsets. The VIA P4MA you posted above I found from searching google. Looking for specs. Than the user can compair their board with a pic listed within the spec search.
Bottom line it is not easy finding older boards with little information marked on the board.

Power problems

Hi Tarry101,
Can not help you because you have not listed the model name of the motherboard & the model number. You can find this on the mother board. Depending on the age of the board the model number will be written on the board, usually written in white lettering. (Example), "Asus P4XP-X or AOpend VKM400Am-S".
If you have the manual for the motherboard you can find the model number there.
When you do find the model number click the Ask Me button under my nickname & I'll go over the connections for you.

Sorry ttgt, the P4i4GX-PE does not appear as a valid Intel board.
Please look on the board for the model number. You should be able to find the correct model number (In white lettering) either on the board or inbetween the white PCI slots typed on sticker. If you still can not find the model number (Which usually starts with the letter D.
Take a look at Intel's web site for you're self, click on the link below.

When you find the correct model number you can click the (Ask Me) under my user ID.

Good Luck!
